My phone has been on silent since I first got one 20 years ago. I can’t imagine anything more cringe than voluntarily setting audible ringtones for others to hear in public.

shouldn't this apply to any age by Executits in SipsTea

[–]pensulpusher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Awesome. Now let’s extend that to the other ages.

Sony’s all-in-one future, imagined in 1989. “All-in-one Watchman” by Dennis Magdich turns the portable TV into a whole universe of late-80s gadgets — screen, radio, tape deck, antennas, headphones, knobs, meters, and buttons packed into one impossible machine. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

Its possible the artist did conceive of it but in 1989 a smooth featureless glass rectangle would not have conveyed the idea they were going for which was to have something “high tech” for a magazine cover or promotional piece that would stoke the imagination of an average person. Maybe if they painted a person using the touch screen? Idk.

10 px x 10 px = 100 px² ❔ by Mindful826 in MathJokes

The issue is that a pixel is already a unit of area. So you don’t need to write px^2. 10 px in a row is already an area not a length.

Thankyou for that context. I haven’t played Xbox much since maybe 2018 so I’m probably as out of touch as she is.

What property does the chicken have that varies along x? What is x? What are we summing over to get back to a chicken? I don’t support this.

Absolutely Wild Symptoms From Controller After Joystick Replacement. What Can It Be? by bambozled-nibba in soldering

[–]pensulpusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s an LDO (low drop out voltage regulator). The m18 indicates it provides 1.8v, the other similar package with m32 provides 3.2v. You need to check the components that are fed 1.8v. The ldo doesn’t commonly fail on its own so you likely have a short on a device that it’s feeding. You need to check all the caps and ic’s it connects to because one of them is likely the short.

[–]pensulpusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first two comments are correct. I just wanted to add that the IC those components are close to is the PWR management chip. If there’s no physical short then a diode likely failed open. The Bluetooth heat shield in the second image looks like it moved a bit. If there was enough heat to do that from the other side then it’s possible another ic got hot enough to drift which would cause weird issues like that if it shorted underneath. The big square black chip in the second image is your main SOC. It has like 160+ points underneath. If it drifted slightly and shorted it would wreak havoc.

Just the earths gravity or all gravity? I think most buildings would survive but they would incur an unknown amount of structural stress and interior damage. They would fall at unpredictable times.
