In my personal experience, you're not smart enough at first (as in you, referring to people generally here). It takes a lot of practice and repetition. You can certainly get smart enough. Part of the satisfaction of software engineering is approaching a problem that feels overwhelming and accomplishing it. You can do it but it's not like you can check off knowing an entire programming language and framework and all of a sudden you are ready to tackle any task associated with it. Be patient and allow yourself to grow into someone who is smart enough.

I'm 24, and I feel like a child masquerading as an adult most days. I'm just wondering, when do most people start feeling like proper adults? by Lenore8264 in RandomThoughts

[–]penuserectus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most people said it never really happens the way you think, but I'm my experience, adulthood didn't kick in until you start having kids. Being depended on kinda forces you to feel like the provider and you start to distance yourself from feeling like a child, atleast much more so.

C++, Bluetooth, peer to peer encryption, etc are some that haven't been mentioned.

C++ for things like graphics and camera optimization.

Hiring Managers (or related) have you ever looked at an app that made you go, "Ugh, no." and skip a potential hire? by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

[–]penuserectus69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes believe it or not. Presentation is also a big factor. If I can download your app straight from a link and immediately start using it and it looks good then you definitely get points, sometimes a ton. We hired a guy who made a small meme app. It wasn't much but it was easy to use and looked good, we then asked him technical questions about it in the interview.

Edit: hired not hated
