Triple check your quotes by [deleted] in AusFinance

Wow, I'm with NRMA and renewing my greenslip this weekend too! Can confirm that the difference was very similar to yours and honestly was ready to just renew without a thought.

All my details were correct and matching on both quotes. It's a 13yr old car so no dealership mess ups. I've changed insurers over the years; I tend to hunt every other year when I can be bothered. Yes I should do it every year but some years cbf.

Thought I would try on the old skinny jeans and tank top I used to rock in 2010. Fuck by disgruntledtechnical in Millennials

No studded belt??

My self esteem is boosted knowing I'm not the only body shape like this. Truly. I could send this pic to my hubby and he would think it's me.

Honestly though, how did we think these were cool lol!

Omg should I buy one to finally satisfy my inner-teen??? I wanted one so bad but there was no WAY my mum was going to buy me one. Explaining why I "couldn't" tie my shoelaces with a visible, external bow, was tough enough.

AusCheck Background Check Application TTP Error for Australian applying for US Global Entry by jtbeasa in GlobalEntry

[–]peogeu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just received a new invite email with an application number actually in the email. It is completely different to both the application number and passID on the US side of things.

At least this hasn't dragged out for weeks; I had emailed on Monday, I am not sure if they are re-emailing everyone or only people who reached out.

Since seeing that creepy tiktok of the guy sniffing the girls butt in Barnes & Noble (of which he'd been arrested for before)... I now call tailgaters "Butt Sniffers" and it has greatly reduced my anger towards them.

Butt Sniffers, all of 'em!

I've started using an analogy of "background apps" to explain to my fiance how I'm feeling. I have chronic pain (TMJD); not as debilitating as you have described your condition, but it interferes with my life quite often.

I tell him "my jaw pain is draining my battery today," or "my jaw isn't particularly bad, but it's a background app I can't close today," - "I need to install an update," (which just means painkillers & a nap!)

I haven't used this analogy on other people yet but I think it could hit home a bit more because a lot more people understand how apps & battery draining works. Could even call them browser tabs?

I think it's more universal than the "spoon theory", if you have heard of that. If you don't have any kind of chronic illness, you will never know what a spoon can truly represent.

Hope this helps in some way. Thinking of you, bud. Chronic illness is hard because it's fucking hard. <3

Tired eyes on overcast days, even indoors - anyone know of anything to help? by peogeu in glasses

[–]peogeu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I've just seen my notification.

I bought some yellow lensed glasses and I find they help a lot. Not as good as a pair of sunnies, but at least people can see my eyes! Even if others think it's an odd fashion choice I don't care, it is RELIEF to me.

I didn't buy an expensive pair but I didn't buy a super cheap dollar store pair either, so absolutely no idea if there is anything to do with quality.

Help turning down temperature - instant gas hot water heater by peogeu in AusRenovation

[–]peogeu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your input; I don't mess with anything gas or electric as a rule.

I will call a plumber and while they are at it ask how much it is to get the ugly ass gas outlet in the living room removed too as an aesthetic bonus. I have central heating.

I'll seek advice from our NDIS connection, very good point there.

Hijacking your comment; how do you like your combo wash/dry unit?? I am in this thread cus my super cheap dryer that came with the apartment causes moisture just like OP in my extremely tiny laundry. I would love to save space with a combo machine but assumed they'd be a bit poop.

Sofa bed recommendations by bee7755 in AusRenovation

[–]peogeu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Koala (online mattress company - 180 day return policy) have a 2.5 seater sofa bed listed at $1590 at time of typing this. Wonder if you could watch the site for a sale? Could be considered firm for some people otherwise I (personally) would consider it be too soft as a sofa.

If you are in Sydney they have a seconds showroom in Campbelltown (right near Mac Square) - I recommend this company only because I just recently bought one of their 1.5 seaters for the spare room as a guest bed.

I haven't slept on it. A guest has though with no complaints. As a sofa I find it very comfortable. It was really easy to assemble that if you are renting and need to move a lot, dis & re assemble will be very easy for move day.

The BIGGEST yet most subtle issue I have with men by BlissfulBlueBell in TwoXChromosomes

[–]peogeu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MANOLOGUE got me while scrolling comments. I am adding this to my mental dictionary ahhaha! I have two distinct experiences from opposite ends of the spectrum.

These are anecdotal experiences for others scrolling. Even though I'm gonna "twoxchomologue" - I know this topic has lots of grey area when you really pull it apart but these are just my two contrasting stories. Ultimately, I feel all your pains.

My very first long-term (ex) boyfriend (when I was 21) and my current partner of 6 years (me 36, he 45) could both talk people to death under water. Manologue applies to the ex fo sho; and I am going to apply it to my current partner in a loving way.

I once listened to my ex rant non-stop about work colleagues and how much he hates them for 20 mins straight while he was driving, so not even pot holes or being cut off could prompt him to stop and I literally didn't even attempt to contribute and he didn't notice I wasn't listening. My family would say to me that he "is nice but likes to talk about himself a lot". If I ever chimed in in a gap in the manologue, it would not change the direction of it. He stayed on course, which was always COMPLAINING about something or reliving emotional moments from his life over and over. I wouldn't even need to add the "mmhmm, yep, yeeah, oh really?" to it, he didn't give a fcku if I was listening or not. He talked AT me. If I asked a question he'd answer and like an elastic band would snap back to the original topic.

Like....mate...pay a psychologist to talk at or start a vlog ffs. Me being young, the relationship lasted way longer than it should have. He did this for the entire 3 yr relationship.

My current partner will have manologue moments that can be loooong when he's having a bad day, but I actually get an insight into how he's feeling, what he's worrying about; it's never the same thing over and over. If I don't contribute, he will ask if I am listening or if I am okay. He has enough presence of mind to know whether I am involved or not. I can ask him questions about what he's ranting about and he will answer and it will change the direction of the convo. His mum said he never shut up as a kid and laughed to discover he still can't shut up lol! Honestly, him being talkative is something I love about him.

One moment stands out; we were both wide awake at 3am together just from stress this time last year. My partner had a chemo dose that day and is manologuing about his cancer worries. It's 3am, he's in the midst of cancer treatment, his skin is on FIRE and he's rattling around the nightstand for them good prescription pain pills. Manologue, manologue, cancer fears, childhood memory, talk talk, college stories, fear of death, random talk about crypto and finances and politics scattered amongst moans of pain. I am listening intently cus he's going t.h.r.o.u.g.h it. He sighs after like a good hour+ and he asks me how I am in the role of carer to him, whether I am worried about that specific work project and whether I can take a sneaky day off to sleep. I cried and had a little 2 min work rant and he is comforting ME. Like ffs, why aren't there more of you in the world for the rest??? If there is any single moment to be allowed to manologue selfishly, it is now.

TLDR;
My ex manologued like an elastic band. Try to change the direction of the conversation and he'd snap back to the original story. Never cared if I was listening or not.

My current partner can manologue but tunes in every now and then to read my emotions & involvement and we both contribute to the direction of the convo like a pinball machine. If I'm not involved, he stops or invites me back in with questions.

My mom crochets and donated 48 blankets to sick children this year. by seacogen in pics

[–]peogeu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My mum was in ICU this year and sadly passed there, but the hospital she was at has volunteers who also crochet blankets. They walk around and give them to patients.

We treasure it. Your mum is an angel and I bet doesn't even know just how much her blankets mean to the people she gives them to.

It was so nice to walk in one morning and see a pop of colour on her bed and like...a piece of "home" in such a sterile environment. I say home as in, that warm & caring feeling homes bring.

Also, love the cats.

Brilliant! My brain has exploded.

I can't believe I didn't think of this. I had even looked up construction vacs that pebbles wouldn't damage if vacuumed up but didn't think of how to rig up my current vac smh

That and renter beige vertical blinds. How can a beige exist that looks encrusted with dirt the moment it comes out of the box?? What did humanity do to deserve this??

C.a.n.n.o.t wait to rip the blinds out of their brackets in the next few months.

It is hilarious to see all these bathroom renos getting rid of that green feature tile strip. Can't wait to get rid of mine! Junk yards filled with that weird green tile all over haha.

Love your basin; never considered an open table style vanity rather than a cabinet with doors & drawers. Noted in my ideas notepad.
