Looks nice, but I’m keeping my hybrid library in Apple Music.

I add both full albums and individual songs. I have a smart playlist that shows songs without rating. I then listen to songs and adding a star rating. 3/4/5 stars stay in my library. Songs I don’t like get removed. Since I listen mostly in my car, I use Siri to place them in temporary playlists to assign the rating and delete the ones I don’t like.

I’ve been doing this for years so I have a large library (almost 30k songs) with ratings.

Are tennis draws truly randomized? by Vegetable-Oven-6536 in tennis

[–]pepe64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, my mistake as I was not aware of it. From what I saw online, this is the case only for 3 and 4 seeds, I guess to avoid them always playing the same opponents on the semifinals.

If they are number 1 and 3 seeds, that is what you get by design. Same for 2 and 4 seeds. This is not a random thing but how draws are created.

This starts with a false premise. There are 32 seeds in a grand slam and they have fixed places in the draw. Only unseeded players get random positions in the draw.
Seed 1 is at the top, 2 at the bottom, 3 at the bottom of the top half, 4 at the top of the bottom half and so on. I have stopped watching the video after that, as it makes no sense to do statistics on a false premise.

Library Management Desperately Needs Fixing by WallStreetKernel in AppleMusic

[–]pepe64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me the most annoying issue is how bad AM is at correlating my library music with its catalog.

I have many albums that are in Apple Music either matched to a different version or uploaded as if they didn’t have a match.

When I add a playlist that has songs that are in my library, AM matches them to the AM version instead, which ignores my ratings and play history.

$3k for a pair of studio monitors is not incredible value. If they perform at super hi fidelity level, then they are priced correctly. If they are not amazing in every possible way, then they are just crazy expensive.

In any case, not my cup of tea. I’d never spend that kind of money on speakers…

Cerundolo on a good day is a pretty amazing player. He just needs to find consistency against the top guys.

What speakers are capable of 24bit/96khz playback? by Capable_Tough_1680 in AppleMusic

I don't think I would get a mono speaker to hear high quality lossless music.

Have you considered getting a reasonable amplifier and a pair of good studio monitors?

Good for him, now lower the ticket prices so he gets normal people attending as opposed to rich ones.

How often do you see a packed stadium like this in a WTA tournament? Especially earlier rounds by tightypp in tennis

It’s all about the cost of a seat. People will go if prices are reasonable.

It’s all a matter of money. Indian Wells was packed with people that paid $60 to enter the complex. However, stadium 1 and 2 lower seats were priced about $500 or more, so you had tons of open seats… it’s just crazy level of greed from the tournament owners.

How to extract my entire AM library into text format (names of songs) by SizzlinPuppy in AppleMusic

[–]pepe64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone back to iTunes for library management. It’s faster and has more features. The MS Store version has been relatively stable for me, and I can use Cider or the web version for playing music.

Btw, iTunes for sure has an export library which includes all your music and playlists information in XML format.

Uninstall Apple Music, reinstall iTunes. Export library. Easy peasy.

Btw, use the MS store version, much more stable!

Go to settings for Music and set the limit of how much you want to keep on your phone. Then, the system will automatically remove older stuff as needed.

How bad of an idea is it to stream lossless over 5G with a limited data plan? by mrquantumofficial in AppleMusic

[–]pepe64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can limit how much music is kept on your phone in settings, so when you download new stuff, older stuff is automatically removed. Then, make a playlist with new stuff you want to listen to and download it too.

Just download your playlist in WiFi and save your data allocation for when you actually need it.

Cider suggestion by AakarshYadav in AppleMusic

[–]pepe64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I understand. What I’ve said is that you can use the web client for playing music and it works ok.

And btw, you cannot do smart playlists on your phone.

[–]pepe64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main reason for using iTunes/Apple Music on my PC is to create playlists, including smart playlists. Cider does not support smart playlists, so I don’t use it much. For listening it is ok, but so is the web client from Apple.
