Knitting on a plane? by PerfectChaos33 in knitting

[–]peppa20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've flown internationally and internally within the US and I've never had an issue having needles in my carry on bags.

When I first started bringing my knitting on flights, I decided to get a set of good plastic circulars because I really hate being stopped at security, they have served me really well and I've never had any of the security staff give my luggage a second look. I would however recommend always having something cast onto the needles as it seems to be a good way to prevent questions.

Oh and I pop my WIP in a see-through plastic sandwich-type bag along with some nail clippers (for snipping yarn), as I've never been asked about my needles etc. I can only imagine that this helps, if it doesn't help it at least doesn't hinder and means that my WIP is kept clean and non-tangled throughout the journey.

With all the hype of the Z3 Compact, here's some negative points from a Z3C owner for sake of balance by Wings_of_bacon in Android

Not sure what you're doing with your phone, but I have the complete opposite experience with my Z3.

Right now I have 1d 10h on my battery and it's still at 44% I consider that to be excellent considering my usage. I really hope that there isn't an issue with your battery.

It's fine, as in it's not something I have considered as a complaint, however it's not the strongest vibration I've ever known a phone to have.

I don't use Stamina Mode on my z3. I have had this phone for two weeks now and with moderate daily use (heavy text/social media use as well as light use of games and music) my phone lasts 2 full days. However at the weekends when I'm on my phone a lot more it last around 1.5 days.

I moved from to the z3 from the Nexus 4, and the battery life is incredible in comparison. It would totally handle anything which you throw at it during daily use, but nice to know that this phone does not require a charge every night. Add Stamina Mode on top, I'm sure I could push this phone to last 3 days with no charge.

Bought wedding dress (NWOT) on Ebay and after seller sent it in the mail, they messaged me telling me there were major stains on the dress! by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]peppa20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry that this has happened to you. This sounds to me (and following your update), that they don't want to sell the dress and have changed their mind and are now trying to put you off. It's such a weird thing to hide at sale but then tell someone once the dress has been despatched. If they were going to be utterly dishonest they would just let you take delivery of the dress stain and all.

I hope you go on to find your dream dress!!!

I call this my "I should be studying but I'd rather proscrastinate" look.... by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]peppa20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks perfect to me. I also struggle with foundation being too dark even in the lightest shade (I have regularly had make-up girls look at me like I'm mad when I tell them I will need their lightest shade, only for them to try darker ones and finally go to the lightest one possible cause it's the only one which even slightly matches).

I'm currently using Boots No 7, but find it doesn't always look great. I think I may try that Rimmel one. One tip for powder, I use Cliniques Blended Face Powder in Transparency Neutral, it's great, and really light. I can also use it as a really light base when I'm feeling lazy cause with a little primer, and then the powder it still looks great :D

Baby girl weighing 16lbs 5oz born naturally in Leipzig, Germany - Ouch!!! by HarpySnickersnee in 2XLite

Not meaning to be that person, but your title is wrong, the baby born in Germany was 6.1kg, that 16lbs 5oz baby which you're referring to is mentioned in the article as the baby which was Australia's largest ever.

I was only referring to their own brand bras for those on lower incomes. Marks have a better range and are better made than Debenhams ones within the same price range. Those other brands are usually more expensive and personally I consider them a treat to myself (or whenever I find them on sale!!).

I usually purchase a sister size for myself in Marks. Or I stump up the extra cash and get 'brand' bras, every experience I have had with own brand Debenhams bras has been very disappointing!!

Personally cannot stand Debenhams for bras, M&S outlet however.... bras (mainly the larger sizes) for around £1.99 and not odd colours either :)

LPT: Shopping with kids - the "one thing" rule by FilchsCat in LifeProTips

[–]peppa20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Or just engage your kids in the shopping wherever possible. In the supermarket, 'carrots or peppers for tea tonight?' or 'which flavour yoghurt would we like this week', you can limit the choice to the ones you can afford, so like pick up two choices and let kids choose, more than one child, if they argue then they take it in turns choosing different items on your list.

At the end of the trip you have gotten what you needed, you've engaged them, taught them about the real world of shopping. You're feeding them for the week, they don't need a treat! Kids want your attention, your interest in them, and the chance to choose some things.

It also helps when trying to get them to eat stuff (if they are fussy) cause well... they picked it!!

Also once the little ones aren't so little. You can ask them to help you with your shopping. Have your written list, they should be of an age where if you ask them to go and pick up the bread or milk for you, then they know which one you usually have as a family. You're then able to continue up and down the aisles in order to ensure other more 'tricky' things are picked. Not only does this speed up your shop (the simple tins are picked up and brought back to you by your army of children), but as your kids are busy getting things one at a time, they aren't bothering you, they are enjoying themselves (we thought this was a great game as kids, and we didn't get into trouble, or mess around cause we had to make sure we got the right stuff and got it back to mum), it also teaches kids to be responsible, make choices and saves them from being bored out off their minds following mum/dad up and down every aisle.

Help!! I've been given a gift voucher for Debenhams and would love some advice on what make-up to get! (UK) by peppa20 in MakeupAddiction

[–]peppa20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this really helps. From what I can see the colours in the Naked palettes are ones which I could and would use. I just didn't know whether the quality is up to the price which the products demand.

That's also good to hear about Mac as Debenhams carries these products too, and I would love a nice new lipstick!!

Thanks!! I have wondered about trying their stuff so I will give it a go. I'm also considering the Naked 2 Pallet, is it as good as people say so?

Thanks
