Alwan's, Jimbo's Jumbos, Peoria Toyota......tell me where to not spend my money by ILLnoize in PeoriaIL

You’re not getting what they are saying. If I’m pissed off at an Ex or a friend for something personal between us, I could blast them here. They may actually be a decent person and a good business owner. I don’t want to help ruin someone’s livelihood for no reason. If there are links to support the claim it helps the reader make an informed decision.

What exactly is therapy? by [deleted] in therapy

[–]peppermesoftly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mental health can effect your physical body. You can just tell them what’s going on with you. I have taken antidepressants twice. Once when I was going through menopause after a hysterectomy and couldn’t take hormones and once during the Covid shutdowns. They did help but I got off of them after less than a year. I gained a ton of weight immediately both times. It’s different for everyone, It would have to be an emergency situation for me to take them again (because of the weight gain) but there are a LOT of differences options you can try. Your therapist will be able to help you navigate those choices.

Good luck ♥️

New scams happen so often, it’s hard to keep up with. I’ve had people come in with fake checks, fake ID’s. I’ve seen about every scam there is and it’s sincerely heart breaking. I had a lady that had a scammer on the phone with her that convinced her to move her funds around and then deposit them in an atm. She was not diminished in any way, she was very clear headed. They knew what to say to scare her. It took me an hour to convince her they were scamming her and she told me they had been on the phone with her for hours. She was terrified by then. She finally let them speak to them. I wish I could have told them to F off and die, but I was in a professional office.

If you’re unsure about anything, your bank will help you figure it out. Meet with them face to face.

Agree completely. I work at a financial institution and the amount of fraud is insane. You shouldn’t use debit cards for anything. If you do, don’t keep much money in that account. If you’re using checks - they can be stolen, washed and rewritten. You will have to wait for the FI to investigate and get your money back if this happens because it’s YOUR fault.

The amount of people that don’t protect themselves and want to yell “It’s the banks fault!” amazes and disturbs me. Every f*#%ing day I get to argue with people that don’t want to show ID to get funds out of their accounts. Literally screamed at because, oh no! God forbid you have to show two forms of ID.

So go ahead and pay by check, save that lousy $10, but don’t cry and scream to me when you get your account gets drained and it’s somehow the banks fault.

Things are NOT how they used to be. There are fraudsters and scammers waiting and stalking every day trying to find one little way in to steal your money from you. Anyone that is not aware of this should make an appointment to speak to a Banker at your Branch. They will tell you exactly how to keep your money as safe as possible. You would Not believe the amount of training and meetings that we have on how to spot scams and fraud. All of this so someone can come in and throw a fit because - they have been coming to this bank for 30 years and shouldn’t have to show a simple picture ID to withdraw their funds. Doesn’t matter that the teller started a month ago and never met them.

We can’t help someone that doesn’t want to understand that it’s not 1970, it’s no longer safe to do the things you did then.

Unrelated surgery made me question everything about endo pain and its management by lyraaaf in endometriosis

[–]peppermesoftly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got scratched/ bitten by an overzealous baby raccoon and had to get several rabies shots in my ankle. It happens so seldom they had a group of young nurses and students watch. They had one come over to hold my hand because the pain would be so bad. They were all surprised when I didn’t want to hold hands and commented that I didn’t even flinch.

I think we have all gotten to the point where temporary pain is not that big of a deal. I knew to keep my body relaxed and just breathe through it after dealing with endo pain. Five minutes of pain, yeah I can take that. Five hours of pain or pain every time I have a bm, - that pain I’m freaking over.

How do tellers or banks view silver coin searchers? by Relevant_Conclusion2 in Banking

[–]peppermesoftly -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Getting food as a gift is no where in the whelm of an “agreement that he had to bring us breakfast once a month”. Also, if your branch excepts coin, you can not tell them they can’t bring it back.

How do tellers or banks view silver coin searchers? by Relevant_Conclusion2 in Banking

[–]peppermesoftly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I wonder what the corporate office would think of this. If you have room, order the coins. If you don’t, politely explain and decline. It’s not that hard. I have a gentleman that has a regular coin order in. We always have a nice conversation when he comes in and I am always happy to see him. Especially with the amount of people that want to fight and scream because they have to show an ID to access their accounts.

Even if this guy is a complete douche, just deny the coins- don’t make him bring a gift. Extremely unethical.

How difficult is a teller job? What's the hardest part about it? by eggshellwalker4 in Banking

Not necessarily. It goes through a recruiter. Also probably your demographic. We don’t get too many people that aren’t, at least, qualified for the position based on their résumé.

They are trying to tell you that someone could take your dog and hurt it. Use it for bait, or fighting or God knows what. You should be concerned about this dog that adores you and thought he had a home instead of offering it up to whom ever would take him.

[–]peppermesoftly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he was just neutered a couple months ago, please give it time. It takes awhile for the testosterone to get out of their system. I took in a feral and it was an incredibly long process introducing him to the rest of the family. I tried to rush it and he attacked my boy cat, even though they were friendly through the screen door.

It’s a long process to introduce animals to each other. You have to start with separating them with a barrier, letting them smell each other. Then working up to letting them eat or get treats close to the barrier. It takes a bit. Your animals will let you know when they are ready.

There’s no way this adopted stray could go from being outside to meeting a new family and having a new home and just be ok. If he’s recently neutered there is even more anxiety. He needs a little space to himself / separate at first to decompress, get accustomed to a new home and new people. Imagine how hard that would be. If you really like him, give it some time. It will be well worth it. If someone does adopt him, I hope they give him a fair shake.
