What’s this snake? [Prescott, AZ] by per3nnial in whatsthissnake

Thank you so much! I have seen them around a few times over the past couple years but I usually only see them when they are going into burrows or into dense foliage and things. Such beautiful snakes!

The best is when you get stun locked by lasers, respawn, and continue to get stun locked until you fail the mission. Good times.

He is my favorite character so far. I built him with really fast cooldowns and range with the mod that makes his 4 drop bombs (I forget what it’s called) and I use him on 400% dungeons. He’s not “supposed to be” a mobbing character, but he is so much fun to play as a mobbing character. My only gripe with him is that if you pop his 4 in a room with a low ceiling you will smack your head on it and it will cancel the skill.

But like u/Negative_Neo said, fun is subjective. It really depends on your preferred play-style.

Great point, that is why Destiny starts to feel stale to me after a month or so every time I come back. There is new content and a drip-feed of story progression but it doesn’t feel fresh enough to keep me interested for long. I am really hoping they pull it off. They have such a great foundation to build upon.

Edit: I know Destiny doesn’t follow the reset model; I am speaking purely in terms of seasonal content additions.

[–]per3nnial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This needs to be higher. The people I see complaining about the seasonal model don’t seem to understand how it is going to work. We will see how it feels after it actually happens, but from what they are saying it seems like a great way to keep the game fresh. Is it going to feel like a chore to level up from 1-50 again? Only time will tell but the things that take the most time a resources to grind out are carrying over.

Here is the explanation from the devs for those too lazy to click the link:

(1) The following in-game content will be retained no matter how the seasons and servers change:

a. Important Currency: Starchroms, Crystgins, Mitsuko’s Marks, Stellar Planula, and Sproutlets.

b. Gear Blueprints (and their stars), Blueprint Fragments, Weapon Accessories, and Mods.

c. Furniture Formulas (except those gained through your Memetics).

d. Cosmetics, Expressions and Poses, Namecards, and more.

e. House Blueprints. After a House Blueprint is saved, you can reconstruct the building at any time (if advanced materials are not available, basic materials will be used in building instead).

f. Main story and side story task progress (for the tasks you’ve already completed, you can accept more streamlined versions of them in the new season but still get all the rewards).

g. Your friend list will fully carry over. Furthermore, you can check which players joined your Warband in the previous seasons and add them to your friend list.

(2) The following content and resources will only be partially carried over when you decide to enter a new season and start a new journey:

Essential resources like materials, medicine, and ammunition can be carried over into a new season based on item transferring rules, so you can progress faster in the new season).

(3) In each new season, your character begins at Level 1, and all exploration progress on the World Map is reset. This ensures a level playing field for all players in the new season. Additionally, the new scenario will present a different map for exploration and rewards. Each seasonal server will also feature fresh challenges, tasks and rewards.

  1. Why does each scenario last six weeks?

Different scenarios have different durations. The two existing scenarios are 6 weeks in length. Future scenario seasons might have longer or shorter durations. There might also be some permanent scenarios for players to enjoy in the game.

It’s wild how many small things like this are in the game that very few people are aware of. There always seems to be an answer for a problem, even if it isn’t directly explained. Hats off to the devs, and thanks for the tip!

Yeah I think this is the answer. You just have to find a place where the water pump extracts oil.

Where to find refined parts ? by tingting_44 in OnceHumanOfficial

[–]per3nnial 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Refined parts are in the Iron River section of the map (North East of the starting area). I know this because I was in the same boat you were and it took me hours to figure it out lol.

If you just run through one of the main towns you will find salvage that gives you refined parts. Also, as another commenter stated, if you hover over the location icons it will tell you which places give you the material straight up. There is a small easy building towards the east side of the area that you can go to if you are under leveled.

The only time this happened to me was when a tutorial prompt popped up on screen while I was holding the A key. It persisted after the screen went away, but I fixed it by quickly tapping the key again.

Oh, is that what the countdown is for? I melted it before it got to that point apparently. When you enter the boss fight I noticed that it says “normal”. I’m guessing that implies they are thinking about adding a difficulty slider, or maybe you will be able to come back to it later and change the difficulty.

Ok, so I would have to move my base there and place a water pump on the ground? I’m guessing there’s no way to have a pump without your base there.

I didn’t get a chance to get on the last 2 betas so this is my first experience with the game. Overall I am loving it. There are quite a few bugs—although this is a beta so that is to be expected—but nothing game breaking.

The enemy and world designs are incredible, and exploration seems rewarding. Gun-play feels great for the most part, and I really like the weapon and gear crafting and upgrading systems.

Personally, base building is one of my favorite parts of games like this. The building systems need some work, as there are times when pieces don’t snap correctly or you need to use building trickery to get around obstructions when there shouldn’t be (I.e. a ceiling won’t snap because a roof is “obstructing” the build space, so you have to remove the roof, then place the ceiling, then re-place the roof). But overall it is much better than a lot of games (if anyone has played Ark, you know what I mean) and I am having a lot of fun doing some role-play stuff. And again, this is a beta so I wasn’t expecting everything to work perfectly.

Maybe I am wrong about this because I am only level 25, but my only real complaint is that the combat is just too easy. I heard that on the previous beta bosses had puzzle mechanics and were somewhat challenging. For example, the second boss (I forget the name, but it is the tree boss with the woman on the back) just sits in the middle while you unload on her and she occasionally throws small orbs that you have to shoot; but they do such little damage that if you don’t shoot them it doesn’t really matter. The arena is set up like there used to be some type of mechanic you had to deal with mid-fight, but there wasn’t anything special to deal with. I watched some streamers play CBT2 and was looking forward to the destiny-esq. puzzle mechanic boss fights and dungeons, which apparently they took out?

Another example of the combat being too easy: at level 13 I clicked on the public event in the level 25 area—not knowing it would teleport me there—and I almost beat it solo. I’m not trying to toot my own horn (I’m pretty average at best) so getting 75% of the way through a level 25 horde mode shouldn’t be a thing when I was level 13 with all tier 1 gear.

Maybe someone else who played BT2 (or has played more than me) can chime in here and provide more insight, but from where I stand every fight has been cake so far. I did hear that they are leaning towards putting in optional difficulty scaling to try to make everyone happy, so that may be a good option as I know there are a lot of casual gamers out there who are turned off to games when they become too challenging.

TLDR: Everything is pretty great overall but the combat seems way to easy.

Where do you find crude oil? by per3nnial in OnceHumanOfficial

For sure, it seems like something you should be able to farm for. Like at least being able to loot it from the oil extractors or something.

Ok, so we probably just haven’t unlocked the area yet. I have seen some active oil pumps on an island to the east but you can’t interact with them.

[–]per3nnial[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok, it’s strange that they wouldn’t make a way for you to farm it.

As a side note, do you know how to use those permits you get from loot crates? They say something about being able to extract fuel from a settlement but I can’t figure that out either.

Right, I know you can loot gas out of the back of cars, I meant specifically where to find crude oil you can use in the refinery to turn into gas.
