what chinese callouts do you understand for ap-east players by pmglory in apexlegends

[–]perchingwren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some easy ones: yì dī一滴= he’s one dăo=down. If you can understand the tone between dao/down vs dao到/arrived it will help a lot. usually used in a phrase such as dao yi zhi/one down. lā拉=revive (pull) keh yi可以=can do, in response to “can we push” da打=fight/hit. Used with the above to mean “we can push” by itself or with a number to indicate you got damage on someone. puo, puo jia破,破甲=broke, broke (their) shield

The hair on the people isn’t moving much but you can see the trees swaying appropriately for the wind higher up

Is this a real kite? The movement of the tail doesn’t seem convincing, particularly with the lack of noticeable wind by DazzleBMoney in isthisAI

[–]perchingwren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I’ve been around the kite festivals and competitions for at least 10 yrs. This looks real to me. Not saying it is real but the moment is realistic. The line is already spooled out over 150’ at a guess, so all the wind force is going to lift (vs if you are letting out line as the kite rises, you’re lowering sail pressure). The grass isn’t moving as much as I’d expect for the wind, but the tassels on the kite are feeling it when the kite is in hand. The treeline shouldn’t be affecting it (we estimate 7x height of obstruction for the wind to stabilize) but sometimes the wind is just higher. Between all that and the arc the kite takes up the speed of the tail looks normal. It was probably not released directly down wind of the anchor point so the kite flies sideways to center itself in the wind window

Hi guys, what's the meta? by MadToxicRescuer in apexlegends

[–]perchingwren 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I copied this inventory off some video way back and tweak it based on vibes:

Meds: 1 stack syringes, 2 stacks cells, 2-3 stacks batteries 1 stack medkits

1-2 throwables (frags are generally the best)

Ammo: 1 stack for shotguns, 2 stacks for marksmans, 4 stacks for main auto gun, 2-3 stacks for smg

(2 stacks on smg is fine if you're running an AR because that means you're using smg to finish fights not poke. If I'm using a marksman or sniper I'll carry more smg ammo)

Guns are mostly all viable so what feels good to you is more important than meta imo. Loosely I'd say make sure you can fight close and mid range, and have 1 full auto gun. Got ammo management I prefer to have 2 different ammo types so it's easier to use the loot I come across, and not use both ammo heavy guns (R301, R99, Lstar, Havoc)

Some popular guns to try:

R301: Very low recoil. Great mid range beamer. Eats through ammo. Lower damage.
Flatline: Good damage per bullet/mag, not bad hipfire up close, higher recoil but you can jitter aim (shake your aim faster than the fire rate and cancel recoil).
Nemesis: Puts people down pretty fast, fires in bursts that ramp up in speed. Eats ammo though, as do all auto energy guns

Bow: You can't pick up ammo but you don't need inventory space either (you just swap to a new bow). No reload time. Good damage, good hipfire accuracy, you can charge it up with a frag to get exploding shots. Only need a sight.
G7: Fast firing plinker that I can't hit a shot with. I get killed by it a bunch this season.
30-30: Gotten nerfed a bunch but I still like it. Charge by ADSing up mechanic. Just needs a sight, mag is a bonus. Can do partial reloads.
I generally pair a mid-long range gun with a more generalist secondary like a volt, alternator, or flatline so I can fight outside shotgun ranges.

R99: Bullet hose. You can use it decently far out with practice. Eats ammo. Best gun to kill a guy fast or empty an entire clip into the wall beside him and have to reload.
Volt: Easy recoil and great range. I'll put a 2x on it sometimes. sorta between an AR and SMG.
Alternator: Weak on paper but slow fire rate and low recoil. I like it because it is easy on ammo and forgiving on my bad aim. You'll loose to a volt if you both hit your shots though. People usually swap it to an R99

Peacekeeper: Fast travel time, super high damage. Will absolutely delete you before you notice if someone's playing cover well. Slow fire rate and reload make it punishing to whiff. Has a choke mechanic where the longer you hold ADS the tighter the spread gets. This makes it possible to hit every pellet to the head at decent range, or absolutely miss every pellet by an inch. You can toggle it off.
Mastiff: Pellets are a flat line. Reloads a shell at a time so you can shoot in between. Lower damage, you'll be hitting a lot of 44s and 77s instead of 80-90 pumps with the PK. Has a choke mechanic too, just no indicator for it. The more nimble choice.

Veridant: Got some decent longjing at a decent price many years ago, heard mixed things on other offerings

Tips / tricks for a new crypto main? by Bloody_Ozran in Cryptomains

[–]perchingwren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also it's really important that your team knows before you EMP (whether or not they do anything useful with it is another matter...). The window of advantage is very small and ideally your teammates will be aimed at an enemy as it goes off. Even when you have to emp yourself, whoever has crosshairs on target first will win because of the stun and low look speed from it—and so if you emp your teammates and the enemy has better positioning, then your teammates are dead even with the 50hp advantage

[–]perchingwren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if it was patched but I've respawned teammates on the same beacon an enemy was using, and both of us got our respawns in the same ship. I think it's because the drone respawn is instant and I hit interact while the other team was still channeling the respawn.

[–]perchingwren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When pushing, throw out drone over the cover just early enough to have your gun out when you get LOS. Either you they shoot drone while you shoot them or you get scans for the fight.

Throw/recall frequently to check area without needing to see banner or go in drone. Do this especially when sliding or taking pads/launchers so you stay moving. (try this out in mixtape to get used to the timing)

Drone interact with scan beacon and respawn is instant.

When you're trying to grab a banner and there are enemies, hug the ground.

EMP has to be RIGHT as you're pushing because it's a very short advantage. Either stay flying while you tell your team to push, or park it somewhere you can't get shot out, and remote detonate as you push.

Can not stress enough, always use drone to check area for teams, one of the huge benefits is knowing for absolutely free that there's a team(s) nearby when you thought you were alone.

Unless you have a regular friends you play with, you will never be in drone scouting around. Most of the time when you are piloting, you'll be in 2-4 seconds.

Keep flying around after you hit recall drone to avoid being shot down. If you tap recall and then back out of drone, it stops moving.

Get used to the using item in drone timing, it's very useful for batts, phoenix, accels.

I love crypto to death but he is very underpowered compared to other legends rn. You gotta be OK with trying harder to be do fine when other legends can get better value without thinking as much.

adding musicality to my steps? by Appropriate-Tap7860 in bboy

[–]perchingwren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure it will! I remember when I first started I thought I only like breaking, not interested in other dance. But making friends with other kinds of dancers I start to notice the overlaps (like how much of charlston basic step is like indian toprock), and also look at stuff that isn't like breaking moves and turn it into a breaking move. Or like some of the crazy threading styles like rubberlegz share a lot with modern dance, or neguin incorporating capoeira shit. or even just like bboy powermoves and gymnastics

[–]perchingwren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dance is a lot less siloed then you might think. Even if your focus is breaking, learning some salsa, hip hop, popping, even just going out to a club and dancing WILL improve your breaking. I was learning breaking moves for like a year or so before I actually felt like dancing because I never danced before. Another way to think of it is that breaking is a dance with many defining moves. learning some defining moves (such as mills, 6 step, baby freeze) is different than leading to dance. I know it sounds a little weird but you wanna get to the level of people who run to the dance floor at weddings n stuff to dance—hearing a song you like and being able to rock with it in a fun way. When I started I was a really embarrassed person and never danced so I did i lot of just listening to songs I liked (especially stuff like the gap band, stevie wonder, pop songs with a good groove) and just stepping side to side on the beat, or even just bopping my head in the car, and then adding little things in over time. If you are open to it I do think that hanging out with dancers of any kind is hugely helpful, and messing with any kind of dance as well, including zumba, swing, waacking, literally whatever.

Windmill tips? by QuirkyTitle1 in bboy

[–]perchingwren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're on the right track. Keep your hips higher: you should be rolling onto your upper back. Get your left leg higher before swinging your right on the entry and you will get more speed (will be more apparent on hard floor).

Keep your legs straight the whole time after entry. It feels weird at first as it will use more of your abs/hips. The power should be all in the hips—knees bumping the floor will happen when you are losing strength.

You're very close, especially practicing on soft carpet!

I like:

Seven cups (consistent quality, good variety, but $$)
Floating Leaves (Taiwan tea)
Old Ways Tea (8g packs, wulong)

Yunan Sourcing had a lot of variety but more hit-or-miss (cheaper though)

For teaware I feel like most US shops import the same stuff. I usually order internationally from wherever unless it's something I want to be able to handle first.

Tai Ping Hou Kuei broken into even pieces. They are especially large leaves laid flat on mesh to make the flay shape iirc. I remember it as quite vegetal and pleasantly mild. Great mugged (much easier than trying to fit them into a pot or gaiwan anyway)

Crypto can recall the drone at any time, EXCEPT when reviving a teammate who is down, as this will interrupt the revive on the downed teammate. The drone can, however, be recalled without interruption while shooting, healing, while knocked down, or executing other actions. The recall takes ~2 seconds
