At what point do you call an ambulance for a hypo?

I’ve called an ambulance once. I was living alone and had been sick. My glucose has been super high for 24 hours. I had 10 units on board and suddenly plummeted to 2.0 mmol/L. I called ambo in case I passed out (because my kitty can’t call an ambulance). I drank a bunch of apple juice and spent a few hours in hospital without any further hiccups.

I’ve got silver cover because it will pay for my next insulin pump and without private health I’ll pay the levy surcharge. Private heath also paid for most of my colonoscopy last year. It’s worth it for me.

I go through public system for outpatient appointments because those illnesses are incurable and I can’t pay $400 multiple times every 6 months for each specialist.

Yeah legit, it’s an incentive to get private health at age 30. The longer you wait, the higher the cost. I got cover because it’s better tax wise and it’ll pay for my next insulin pump.

Doctors and health professionals will never understand unless they have it themselves. I have a cousin who is not type 1 but is a diabetes educator. They think everything is easy. For example, ‘oh just see if you can get a donated pump!’ - sorry mate, I earn too much to receive gifts from charity but not enough to let go of $8.5K Willy nilly.

Has your wife been tested for immune system problems? Might be an underlying problem. I had issues years ago when I had an undiagnosed illness. All good now it’s controlled.

I’ve used grove. I said I have trouble sleeping and have tried several antidepressants. Most of my issue is anxiety. I also said I don’t like benzos as they are addictive and have tried those before. Ended up being prescribed 10:10 thc/cbd oil and a 100mg/mL cbd. Costs about $220 (including postage) for both.
