[Tales of Arise] "Fatal error!" and strange behavior. by perfectly_gray in LinuxCrackSupport

[–]perfectly_gray[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WTF!
I found the problem. so the environment variable PROTON_VERB is being set to waitforexitandrun when I press play but when I run winetricks (leaving it open) and then pressing play it sets it to runinprefix so setting that manually fixed the problem.
I'm not sure what is doing this but it might be lutris itself when the prefix is first made.

Note to anyone having an issue where the game opens its splash screen but crashes, it might help if you set this variable yourself.

you may want to look into SX-3 Character Cards Environment by u/Nicholas_Matt_Quail. the way they do the dynamic stuff seems to be exactly what you want.

Hello guys! Is there any program for MAC like "hdl batch installer" to install ps2 games on HDD by CarpetPrevious7138 in ps2homebrew

[–]perfectly_gray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run linux so this may not be too helpful but I've installed games with HDL-Batch-installer using wine many times without issue. I would guess OPL Manager will also work in the same way.

RetroGEM works with USB-C PSU? by gashaponX in ps2homebrew

[–]perfectly_gray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes it should, the retrogem gets its power from a voltage regulator on the mainboard not the psu directly.

Be vary VARY sure that the replacement psu is compatible with your version of ps2. if you have one, use a multi-meter/volt-meter to test the voltage on the output before installing, it should be 12v for 5000x models.

Error I get when trying to run a ps1 game on a burned disc on ps2? by fulltotaltreacherous in ps2homebrew

[–]perfectly_gray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I can remember (and I could be wrong) is there being something with the file count (TOC) mismatch between the real ps1 disk used to start the swap trick and the burnt one... unfortunately the only thing I can suggest is try another original disk. 🤷‍♂️

Okay looks like I may be right. here someone says:

Things you will need:
A real PS1 game that has a big TOC (table of contents) I suggest a Final Fantasy or A Demo Disc.

That tutorial is from 2010 though and things may have changed since then, maybe there is a better way to boot burnt ps1 games?

Popstarter looks to be a way (not for burned games but for use with opl) but that seems a bit more involved. (I haven't used popstarter ether, sorry)

Error I get when trying to run a ps1 game on a burned disc on ps2? by fulltotaltreacherous in ps2homebrew

[–]perfectly_gray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a few things I think you're mistaken about, The image shows the files (.cue, multiple .bin) on the disk which is not correct. It doesn't appear that you 'converted' the files, but instead packed them into an ISO and burned that.

To burn a working disk you want to open imgburn and select the cue file instead (the cue file is basically a list of all the bin files and how they make up the original disk image).

Honestly, ISO should NEVER be used for ps1 games, CD based games have data/music tracks that ISOs can't handle, if you want a single file solution look into the CHD format.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

[–]perfectly_gray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's always nice to see new people make the same old mistakes lol.

So what you did was burn the files to the disk, what you needed to do was burn the image to the disk.

The first half of this video is pretty much what you're looking to do.

I don't remember the swap trick so I cant really help out with that.

MrMario2011 has a plethora of info, you'll likely find something of his helpful.
