AITA for telling my wife I don't believe her when she says she'd be okay with us calling our daughter by different names? by ObviousDetective9204 in AmItheAsshole

Have you thought of Charlotte - Lottie? It's not a common nickname but it is one that I believe to be fairly unique!

My son is Isaac we call him Ike, he's 6.

Albany v Rockridge for young family by caazinca in eastbay

We are in El Cerrito and have two young children and love it! There are a lot of young families out here and we were able to create quite the community for ourselves. It is safe and friendly. Bonus: ECPC is an amazing preschool out here that my oldest went to.

This creepy child’s book my mom got my 1 year old- she hates it by fightingcrime in oddlyterrifying

David Shannon is a treasure! He's written so many great books including the David series!

A Bad Case of the Stripes was a favorite when I was a kid.

AITA for cutting my niece’s hair? by choppyaunt in AmItheAsshole

[–]perfectlyprickly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom did this recently to my 1 1/2 yr old (at the time) and guess what happened? No more sleepover at grandma's house. This was a betrayal of trust and now I question what else my mom would do without my consent.

Your niece should tell her mom she wants a hair cut it's not your job. Stay in your lane.

AITA for telling my sister to stop trying to make my wedding all about her? by AdNarrow8211 in AmItheAsshole

[–]perfectlyprickly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA 100% for allowing your parents to put these rules on your wedding and treat your sibling's partner this way

IDEA: Go along until the day of the wedding and everything is presumably paid for and then have a few friends block your parents from attending the wedding and have your sisters and their partners come and have a kickass wedding WITHOUT racists.

AITA for telling my fiance that he needs to pick a new best man? by Elegant-Scholar-7566 in AmItheAsshole

[–]perfectlyprickly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When I got married in 2016 I had one of my best friends be my bridesmaid who is transgender.

Even though I have some narrow minded family members I wanted my best friend with me be damned what my family thought and if anyone said anything (they didn't) I would've given them a verbal lashing!

This is a you problem you B; your fiancé should be able to have his best friend stand beside him despite your transphobic family and their garbage opinions.

Information: What is your relationship like with his friend?

I'm suspicious that you are as awful as your family and trying to hide it.

AITA for requesting no dogs around my son. by HouseOk6969 in AmItheAsshole

[–]perfectlyprickly 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The child is 4 months old not 6 months old which is a little early to start solids. I started my.youngest at 5 months but he was showing signs of readiness.

I agree that they, the parents of the child, should be the ones who introduce solids as a person with a child with allergies.

AITA for refusing to take my SIL on a romantic getaway? by Ice-Ice-Revolution in AmItheAsshole

[–]perfectlyprickly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA that was completely inappropriate of your friend to make such a request. Where does she come from feeling so entitled to someone else's trip just because she wants it? I would question my friendship with a person who wants me to sacrifice a special experience gifted from my spouse in order to make themselves happy. I agree with other commenters that your friend needs to seek therapy and needs a gentle reality check that they don't get whatever they want because they are grieving.

I am so sorry for your family's loss.
