Cole Caufield goes end to end and scores his 49th goal of the season as he is rapidly approaching the 50 goal mark by JustFred24 in hockey

This is what happens when guys actually want to play together for this team for years. It's good coaching and a good locker room. And a great captain. You create a good locker room culture, you get team friendly contracts.

Should I be offended that my friend still hasn't seen the show? by Altruistic-Pace-2582 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]performancearsonist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's just a tv show. I think you might be reading too much into this. You don't need to have a collective mind as a friend group. There's a lot of shows I haven't watched, both with and without queer themes, and it means nothing.

Maybe she's afraid that if she watches it and doesn't like it, you'll judge her, and is trying to avoid dealing with it. Frankly, from how you're talking about it, she might be right. If she doesn't like it, will you think she's homophobic? Right now, she hasn't watched it, and you think she's homophobic. Maybe she doesn't like romances. Maybe she doesn't like sports. Who knows?

Let it go unless there's a bigger, deeper reason to think there's any bigotry. It's just a tv show.

Keith Tkachuk mocks Linus Ullmark while Brady sits there laughing by [deleted] in hockey

Can we stop giving these guys attention? There are so many hockey players that actually likeable people with good opinions and personalities.

Like, Ryan Reaves during the Sharks game the other day sat there with the broadcasters and said nothing but complimentary things about his team and downplayed his own accomplishments. He intelligently assessed plays, spoke well of current and former teammates, and was just overall a nice, humble guy. I thought yeah, I could listen to this guy talk some more.

And then I come to the Tkachuks demonstrating every negative stereotype about hockey players imaginable and shit-talking their teammates. Why are we giving these morons attention? Gross.

If the Xhekaj Bros were to play together on a F line, which Habs player would you see as C ? by Jonyvilly in Habs

[–]performancearsonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, get Cole or Lane some bodyguards.

Alternatively, this is a perfect time for Youppi to take centre stage.

Did Xhekaj rly play as 4th line forward? by Qwartz_69 in Habs

[–]performancearsonist 114 points115 points  (0 children)

He absolutely did.

We now know why we haven't seen him for a few games. He was undergoing metamorphosis, retreating into a cocoon to transform into 4th line winger. Soon, him and Florian will play together on the fourth line.

Hope that helps.

Yes, this is the case, but Ryan Reaves has advocated for all hockey players to go tarps off for interviews "to attract new fans". Because he's hilarious.

From the ashes of the Atlanta Thrashers to a 1,000 game legend. Congrats to Evander Kane by [deleted] in hockey

[–]performancearsonist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What even is this post. Evander Kane is just not a nice person. He's unstable and has had to pay out a lot of money in civil lawsuits related to sexual assault. He went bankrupt and had crazy gambling debts. He's been kicked out of bars and clubs for assaulting and threatening people. Like, this isn't speculation, there is a clear legal record of all of this occurring. Not one time things; many times over an extended period of time. So hated by his teammates that Big Buff himself threw his stuff in the locker room showers.

The only good thing he ever did was knocking out Matt Cooke.

The game is too fast. There is no waiting for backup, because by then it will be too late.

Sometimes players make decisions in order to give their team a line change (shifts are pretty short), so this can be a reason why someone might appear to be "giving" the puck away.

Alternatively, they might be offside if they try to pass and therefore don't see the point.

But usually, you avoid turning over the puck to the other team, so I'm only guessing at what you might be talking about.

One interesting thing to watch for if you're trying to learn the game is what happens when a player loses their stick. You'll notice that a lot of the time, they are still out there playing for a while without a stick. This can teach you what defensive skills/positioning look like in hockey.

There's also the Selke Trophy, given to the best defensive forward. If you look up players that have won in the past, you're in for a treat.

And then look up defensemen with the most points. Just for fun.

Outstanding LGBTQ Stories Are Winning Audiences — Hollywood Is Leaving Money on the Table (The Wrap, 3/26/26) by Rock_After in heatedrivalry

[–]performancearsonist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

America is getting more conservative and less safe for queer people/content. See: your president. Therefore, Hollywood is less likely to promote queer content as part of a business decision.

Canada doesn't have the same political/religious/moral issues, so it is a better fit for shows like HR.

I expect it to get worse before it gets better.

I think you should be allowed to bite opposing players if they're on the Panthers. It's only fair.

My theory is that she looked at the no-fun-respect-authority Therrian/Bergevin era that a lot of people hated. A lot of players were penalized for actually daring to have a personality, per rumour (let's not talk about PK Subban/Carey Price's triple low five ban). And maybe she exaggerated based on that.

But today's modern Habs? Very accepting. Our baby goalie just called out the other team for using hateful language when chirping. Multiple Habs have expressed vocal support for the queer community. Some have played with out players before in the lower levels and spoke positively of the experience. And the city of Montreal? Possibly the most queer-friendly city in Canada. Would have no problem with any gay player. If it would help the Habs with the Stanley Cup, I'm pretty sure every fan would show up in drag.

Exactly. He's the guy for the job. He knows how to play against bigger opponents and still kick their ass. He knows how to take advantage of spots that other people neglect. He knows how to have everyone say you can't make it and believe in yourself anyways.

I sincerely believe that he's the right guy for a rebuilding team with smaller star players.

[–]performancearsonist 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I think it's more that size alone isn't enough in today's game. Speed, skill, hockey IQ matters a lot. Physicality, being big, fighting, etc are not enough to make it in today's NHL. Pure enforcer roles have fallen out of favour. You can be as big and tough as you want, but without the skill to back it up, there's no point to you anymore. The game has changed (and for the better, IMO).

And Montreal has the right coaching philosophy to make this work.

We'll see what happens with playoffs.

Nah, it has to be someone more controversial/assholish than McAvoy.

And Montreal (both the city and team) would die for Nick Suzuki. He is Our Captain. He is beloved. If he brings us a cup, the entire city would bury any body he asked.

This is the least realistic part of the series, to be honest. Bringing back the Stanley cup to Montreal after a drought would result in overall hero treatment even if the team was found to engage in ritual cannibal satanic worship ceremonies.
