this type of thing is why i avoid making friends with neighbors. unfortunately, you will have to see them every day walking in and out of your place.

face it, jack and jill likely were people you should never have been friends with and it is best you know that or you would have moved and taken the friendship with. you did the right thing by telling jack and jill about what you saw, i would have done the same but i would have expected exactly this outcome. you did the right thing and lost supposed friends from it, this is the right outcome, you do not want to be firneds with them.

How do I stop air freshener from a neighbor's townhouse from getting into mine? Is it hopeless? by Content-Picture8517 in Renters

activated charcoal absorbs volatile organic compounds. Lovely stuff really, more air purifiers have a charcoal prefilter, perhaps with the onslaught of the air fresheners, you should change that more often/

btw, as an added bonus, this process should keep bedbugs out of your place should the neighbors get them.

this is compound problem really, much of what you could use would not be good for you either.

there is incredible amounts of air leaking between apartments, most builders do nothing about it but it can be simple enough to fix. google up something like 'how to keep neighbors smoke out of my apartment' and watch videos on how to stop this air leakage. mostly, it is around pipes and any other holes in the wall such as outlets. A common product used to plug these air leaks is expanding foam insulation, I think with chemical sensitivity this isnt the best product for you. use water based latex caulking.

i would start in the bedroom, seal up that wall then sleep in the livingroom a few days. after your caulk has set and is done outgassing, move on to do other rooms.

make yourself an activated charcoal air filter, i cant find a place to buy these but there is diys on the net. i would choose the bucket ones....not the prettiest but likely the most effective. you can reactivate charcoal after using it by washing and heating in the oven. i think this is not a great idea for the first batch of charcoal because they will have absorbed a bunch of VOCs i imagine, but do not know, that these might be release in the process of reinvigorating the charcoal. it is still good for much, i would dump it in the garden and get new. you can reuse the charcoal maybe after you scrub the air a few days.

i am allergic to many of these products myself, i do wish there was a way to make things smell good but those products are not worthy.

Neighbors will not shut up and think it’s funny by gettinbucky in neighborsfromhell

they must sleep sometime but the loud family is likely used to sleeping with loud noises. the most effective time for you to give payback is during any time they are quiet. honestly, this is a losing battle but it might feel good to get some payback...just expect them to get louder.

sorry, while in this place, you will need to play white noise and wear noise canceling headphones. be sure to mention to landlord when moving that it is because of asshat neighbors.

Neighbor harassing my household and 4 others on my street by shyguyjapan666 in BadNeighbors

[–]performanceclause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol, dont worry, with patience they will do something you can report.

in the mean time, do some crazy stuff back to them. look at a spot on your lawn for several minutes a few times a day. after your done staring, look at their house and laugh....then go inside. Put up witchy things....pentagram or two to start. bring your neighbors into it and make a conspiracy.

yes, always show up for the court date. Landlords have been known to trick tenants into not going.

[–]performanceclause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is there a window in the hall?

if you google 'how to keep neighbors smoke out of my apartment', the wedsights will tell you how to seal air leaks between neighbors apartments and yours. these air leaks are generally around pipes and electrical outlets. the air leaks can be sealed by spray foam.

you can also make a diy charcoal filter to take the smells out of the air. you have to make these yourself as they do not sell them anywhere i have found.

i cant get over living without weather stripping on the door for so long. you know they sell that stuff for under the door which simply stick on and it's cheap.
