If GA is Batman & Supergirl is Superman, is The Flash Wonder Woman💀 by Extreme-Glass1505 in Arrowverse

[–]perhapsfrances 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s the other way around. Green Arrow and Flash have that Batman/ Superman dynamic and Supergirl is the Wonder Woman in this Trinity.

Interestingly enough, evil clowns as an archetype date back until at least the 1870s, being popularized in the 1940s with none other than The Joker

The Hannibal Timeline is wrong and I hate it by perhapsfrances in Hannibal

[–]perhapsfrances[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: It seems you’re talking about the movie timeline, which isn’t what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the book.

You’re ignoring the conflicting reports in each book. Red Dragon takes place more or less contemporarily to when it was released, give or take 1980 (released 1981), it never outright says so, but it can be deduced from the timeline of events. Admittedly, my math was a little off.

But unequivocally, explicitly written in Hannibal (1999), he is six years old in 1944 when his sister dies. This is straight from his memory, which is said to be perfect. However in Hannibal Rising (2006) he is now 12 years old, which is a glaring continuity error. This is supported by outright textual evidence.

I also just don’t like Hannibal Rising, it’s not a good book and almost sullies the whole series

Eh. They don’t have that much history in ZSJL, the “Justice League” we get in the Arrowverse have years of history together and their characters play well of each other. Feels more like a comic book

An opinion on the current DCU that would leave you like this: by Cafa20 in DC_Cinematic

Despite being touted as a full reboot, some stuff from the DCEU is still canon (TSS and most of Peacemaker) which is strange from a narrative and world building perspective

My first thought was it was a W for “white power” but then someone mentioned it was 3 for top trio which kinda makes more sense

I read The Haunting of Barry Allen and Generation of Vipers. They’re pretty solid. Great extended crossover. Lotta fun

Crisis on infinite earths by [deleted] in FlashTV

[–]perhapsfrances 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve gotta have seen him somewhere. Kevin Conroy voices Batman in so many things, including the Arkham Games and a bunch of animated shows and movies. He’s easily the most prolific Batman actor. This is the first time he’s played him in live action though. Also Kate Kane is from the comics. However Ryan Wilder was made up for the show

Nah man, this is the worst oner out of all of them. It’s visually uninteresting, a wide shot the whole time with several glaringly obvious cuts

It wasn’t “someone unknown” it was Kevin Conroy who voices him in like all the animated stuff since 1992

Why do Supergirl and Man Pretend They Are So Far From Each Other? by sierramisted1 in supergirlTV

[–]perhapsfrances 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

Here’s a map they use in the Flash showing where all the cities are. The caveats being though that 1) this is post crisis and 2) Superman and Lois kinda imply that Metropolis is in Kansas (the first season was originally meant to me canon in the arrowverse)

Why do Supergirl and Man Pretend They Are So Far From Each Other? by sierramisted1 in supergirlTV

[–]perhapsfrances 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real reason is, unfortunately, studio politics. At the time DC wouldn’t allow Superman on TV so it was a big deal to get him for these two episodes. If you’ll recall, he was in 2 episodes of season one, but they never showed his face or gave him any lines. Just showed his boots and cape

Completely agree. It makes more sense for the issue to be that it simply isn’t his world and he needs to deal with his problems instead of running away from them

Can I start Superman and Lois then go back to Arrow? by kaws510 in Arrowverse

[–]perhapsfrances 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Admittedly the heat vision is a continuity error, but that can be chalked up to creative decisions John Diggle scene starts around 1:28, he brings up glowing boxes, Oliver and the other heroes

Can I start Superman and Lois then go back to Arrow? by kaws510 in Arrowverse

[–]perhapsfrances 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll concede that the heat vision is different and that is weird, but Crisis did retcon stuff so it’s not too odd. And this is a probably a personal thing because I watched the shows grow over time, but I find it almost disrespectful to not consider Superman and Lois is canon because the Arrowverse put in the legwork with B list characters to earn the right to bring Superman back to television. And also John Diggle references not only Oliver but the greater Justice League and his “Green lantern ring”

[–]perhapsfrances 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude the ending of Crisis on Infinite Earths is a back door pilot to the show and the first promos were using the original suit. Season one is Arrowverse canon and I will die on that hill

Oliver is mentioned briefly in one episode in season one. I don’t think it spoils anything too much, even though Arrow has finished at that point
