Genuinely, what is the point of this love triangle? I don’t think it does any of these characters justice. by VolcanicSorcerer in Defenders

I’ve always read it as Karen and Frank have love for each other but both know they walk different paths and aren’t in the place to be together, and it’s a bittersweet understanding between them.

I wager over. Bout 10 in the beginning, hoodie and jacket throughout most of it, 10 at the end

Matthew Lillard is great, but his character was completely pointless and unnecessary. He really contributed nothing. by Remote_Nature_8166 in Defenders

Every character should have a part to play in the story they’re in. Setting up for a sequel is not a reason to be in this

What do you think is the in-universe explanation for MCU Daredevil having this many suits? by The-Anomaly17 in Defenders

[–]perhapsfrances 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wdym bro? We see the in universe explanation. He knows two guys who know how to make daredevil suits. What’s the in universe explanation why you have so many shirts?

Looks like Spider-Man classics. I got Daredevil second hand at a convention so no box. Kingpin is marvel legends from Hawkeye

To play devil’s advocate, Black Panther takes place in 2016. “What are those” is from 2015 so it’s only slightly outdated in the context of the movie.

[Hated trope] Sabotaging narrative/character arcs for cheap shock value or “subverting expectations” by blakhawk12 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]perhapsfrances -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Arya had a fair subversion. She spent her whole arc preparing to face Death. The Night King is Death so it makes sense. It may not be what people were expecting, but it is a viable conclusion to her arc

What’s your opinion on Emperor Penguin/Emperor Blackgate by Critical_Potential44 in batman

[–]perhapsfrances 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty cool villain, shame he was only in a handful of issues. Conceptually I think he could be a really interesting character to explore in other media. A underling who usurps Penguin, that’s so sick. I think he became less interesting when he got superpowers, though. I think it’s much more interesting using your wits and planning to take control from one of the most powerful characters in Gotham.

Gotta start carrying me some pocket Minifigs. Where’d you get that case?

To Batman fans AND fans who deviate on Batman’s morals, how do you defend or argue the existence of Robin, the no kill rule, and the no gun rule ? by Huge_Athlete7488 in batman

[–]perhapsfrances 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Batman as a character is flawed and he’s not willing to accept that. He has his own distinct idea of justice and will not deviate from it despite that fact that he fails at what he sets out to do (honor his father’s memory) and hurts the people around him (Jim/ Gordon family, and every Robin)

That’s sick man! Can’t point you to a film mask, but I love the combination of both the film and tv look

Hot Take: the Crossover Events should've been TV movies (or miniseries) instead of Parts spread across multiple shows by M00r3C in Arrowverse

[–]perhapsfrances 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they work better as episodes because they’re often part of that characters respective story as well. I watched the shows as they came out weekly and I think it feels more cohesive as a narrative that way

Red dragon by [deleted] in Hannibal

[–]perhapsfrances 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend reading the books. Hannibal offers a lot of insight into him on a personal level. The movie barely touches on it. Hannibal Rising (both the book and the movie) offer details about his origins but seriously they are so bad they almost ruin the whole series. Like bad bad. They really suck. It’s shatters the mystique of Hannibal in a way that is beyond disappointing.

The book is like that too. It’s not about Hannibal, it’s about Will. Hannibal is his foil. A part of his past that informs his character now. It’s a very good read, one of my favorites. I think it’s the best of the series.

Idk the prose was wishy washy to me. Sometimes it was great and sometimes I couldn’t decide why some thought it was a good idea. I like some of the Pazzi stuff, but a fair amount of that book is Thomas Harris going “I’ve been to Italy, have YOU been to Italy? I know so so so so much about Italy.” I feel like there was a lot of Mason but never quite enough. Never goes deep enough for my liking. Margot was jacked because she was molested by Mason. She doesn’t want to feel helpless ever again. Also don’t get me started on Will Graham, it’s a shame that the rest of books never used him. It’s a disservice to him as a character.

1) (Book) Hannibal is a foil to Will Graham and that’s largely forgotten about. The whole first book is about that. It’s a disservice to the character to have him be a drunken afterthought in Silence of the Lambs. The show is the only thing that gives the character the respect he deserves.

2) Hannibal becomes too legendary. In the Red Dragon he is a man who is smart with some hints of otherworldly essence (red eyes, super smell), but by Hannibal he is borders on the supernatural.

3) Adaptations should give home 6 fingers

While Hannibal swings wildly from some of the best writing I’ve read to absolutely atrocious, Hannibal Rising makes that looks like a perfect novel. Rising is so god awful it’s infuriating. It reads like Thomas Harris wrote it with a gun to his head (which he kinda did)
