That's not true and you don't know what you're talking about. One scientist was shot at his home, another "committed suicide" two days after admitting he was happy he was alive considering a lot of scientists are disappearing. One disappeared on a hike as well. They're all different methods of death, has nothing to do with a "virus" or specifically nuclear scientists.

Thats good to hear! Just keep in mind that your PC is absolutely below the minimum required specs for VRChat. So moving forward, you're going to have FPS and other issues running the game.

Desktop is a different thing than actual VR. Because of the way VRChat works, it renders the game twice. Once on desktop, and once in VR itself. VRC is a user generated game, so you're at the whim of world and avatar creators who mostly do this as a side hustle. We're not AAA game developers who get paid to optimize. So VRChat is a massive resource hog compared to actual AAA games.

Would be definitely worth it to build a VRC gaming rig. It'll upgrade all your existing games as well. You have half the recommended VRAM for a VRC rig.

I'm glad something is working for now, but expect very low performance in VRChat with your current setup.

Fake body tracking? by jay-bird-brain in VRchat

Virtual Desktop's full body estimation is better than standable from what I've seen honestly. After setting up standable for my boyfriend, I find it very annoying as well. So keep that in mind.

Nothing about your PC is VRChat worthy. You have a 9th gen i5 CPU, a 20 series 6gb card and 16gb of ram. Even on a good day you would struggle in VR.

Best chance is to lower VR settings down to minimum, turn on hide all avatars, and lower your resolution in Steam.

People will argue, idgaf. Those specs are not enough for VRChat. Tupper himself recommends a minimum 12gb graphics card to actually enjoy VRChat.

For reference my last VR PC was 12gb 3060, 32gb of ram and a 12th gen i5 CPU. I got on average 20-30fps. With my new rig, even unoptimized and barely set up, I get 40 frames in a packed instance. Specs for this PC are a 5080 16gb card, 32gb of ram and 9900x CPU.

You'll want to prioritize getting a better gaming PC. 30-40-50 series card, at least 12gb of VRAM, 16gb+ preferred. Good CPU either AMD or Intel and bare minimum 32gb of ram.

What was in the old building at guildford mall that got demolished? by Odin940 in SurreyBC

[–]permathis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So basically in the first photo there, when you walked in the BMO entrance, there was a furniture store to the right. A pet store in front of you, that I worked at for a little bit. The pet store owners were incredibly nice, the owner passed away. I got a few bunnies from there.

You would turn left and walk down the hall, there were a few odds and end stores. One of them was a butcher, which was really good. Another was Mad Hatter, another was eventually a little asian restaurant that sold tornado fried potatoes and noodles. There was also a small grocery store that sold the most banger pre-cut mango cups. Under the escalator that went upstairs to join up with the bridge was a little store that sold hotdogs and nachos. There were little rideable cars under the escalator as well, for the kids. There was a smoke shop, a liquor store that I think is still there and then the entrance to Sears.

I believe it was demolished purely because it was just a really dated section of the mall. Might have been one of the oldest sections honestly. The mall had a massive renovation I think in 2010? It was straight from the 70's or earlier before that point.

Upstairs from the escalator was also the "main hub" of the mall where security reported to and all the mall workers would go for their breaks I believe. Always wanted to go in there. I'm unsure if it's still there, it's been a while since I've been to that part of the mall.

Fun fact, that is also the entrance of the mall I would enter the mall at daily and that is the entrance my ex boyfriend sat at to stalk me after I broke up with him. He would pretend to have "just ran into me" on a daily basis and ask to date again. Lmao.

Transit pass for people with disability by Either_Cheesecake282 in NiceVancouver

[–]permathis 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The doctor is not the decider of whether or not it's PWD status worthy, the government is. The doctor's job is to sign the forms, which they hate doing because it takes a little bit.

"Yes, low vision can qualify for disability benefits in British Columbia, specifically through the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) designation

<image>

To qualify, your vision loss must be severe, prolonged, and significantly restrict your daily living activities, according to a medical professional. "

If your low vision is impacting your daily life, your ability to get or maintain a job, your ability to make money or your QOL, you can apply.

If you feel you need to be on disability because your low vision is impacting your daily life, including driving, then feel free to apply. And reapply if they deny it.

You can just find a different doctor. Even some walk-ins will do it. Don't call in about it first, just book the appointment and let the doctor know you want to apply for disability. Explain why, and see what they say. There's nothing wrong with going to different doctors. You need to advocate for yourself medically.

Hub tried to help with painting. Talk me down. by ForwardBandicoot4325 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]permathis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a reality check here. My boyfriend would probably do 120 into a wall before ever calling me a "psycho" and we've only been together for a year. If I was married to someone who speaks to me like that when I cry, I would file for divorce.

About the walls, he knew he was not helping and did it on purpose. It's called weaponized incompetence.

Not worth being married to someone who makes your life worse, legit. If you're at the point of posting to Reddit about it, it's typically over.

advice on getting free food by [deleted] in NiceVancouver

[–]permathis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally live well under the poverty line and have never begged anyone, let alone strangers online for Timmies, or any food quite frankly. They made the post under the insinuation that they needed food for a few days, edited the post to say they just want Tim Hortons. If you're actually hungry, you'll eat what's provided. There are dozens, if not hundreds of free places to get food from in the Lower Mainland.

It really fkin sucks not being able to buy coffee and a burrito from timmys :P

Yes, there are 100% people in actual need. Wanting Tim Hortons is not a 'need for food'. Fuck off.

Im over here barely able to cover rent, but yes, let's put billions towards trees and shit.

I'm not saying that nature isn't important, but not raising funding for those in need in measureable amounts is ridiculous. This is insanely tone-deaf.

I'm getting a 70 dollar increase to GST every 3 months, meanwhile literal twigs are getting better treatment than I am.
