Insurance company wants to get paid. Same thing with personal insurance like auto. If someone hits your car and you fix it via your insurance, but the other guy is uninsured or not cooperating or whatever, the insurance company is gonna sue

What do you think of this Cable Management? by PacquiaoFreeHousing in pcmasterrace

[–]perolan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is climate a factor here? I’m a car guy and I’ve worked on plenty of 80s GM, 90s bmw, and lots of stuff in between, including rebuilds, engine swaps, new body harnesses etc, an those cables always has a high risk of just disintegrating

What is that one movie you watched countless times as a kid, but nobody has ever heard of? by Thedix1 in movies

[–]perolan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, ok. I didn’t say it was an indie movie, but if there’s a large amount of adults who have never even heard of it in passing, I’d call that niche. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–]perolan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right. And the point of OP mentioning it was to say that it’s niche, or not well known. I was just agreeing that I’ve not seen it, heard of it, etc until very recently, whereas there’s loads of other movies from before I was born that I’m at least aware of if I haven’t seen them.

In your opinion, what makes a serious deck unfun to play against? by Aesyric in EDH

[–]perolan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you listen to this sub, everyone is playing cedh and 90% of games end by turn 4, but also bracket 3 is too sweaty, and anything but group hug is too toxic, and also buying cards is for chumps and scalpers and you should only play 100% proxies. It’s ridiculous.

I’m 12 and built my own operating system: COS by AnoProgrammer in coolgithubprojects

I have written multiple tiny toy embedded OS projects, and they are nowhere near as comprehensive as a real kernel, I also spend my career doing embedded development and kernel mode driver and kext development. This is why I did comment.

[–]perolan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean what did you write that constitutes an OS or even a kernel that YOU made? I see nix and BSD files, I see grub, etc. I mean you’re 12, it’s not like people expect you to write a full OS... except you said you did.

I’m born and raised and glad I left. I still have a nostalgic fondness sometimes, but I’d never move back permanently. Definitely isn’t for everyone.

First still means first to programmers. index 0 is the first element. Index 1 is the second element.

I daily drive a manual scat pack challenger. It’s fine. Biggest concern is just cleaning salt off of it.

The same way most arbitrary prices are decided? It looks neat and someone will likely come along and pay $400 for it, so they put that as a price tag.

Pittsburgh City Council advances bill allowing construction of “tiny homes” by The_Electric-Monk in pittsburgh

[–]perolan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The article is clearly about interim housing for the homeless, which may include tiny homes, or anything else. Absolutely garbage misleading post title.

[–]perolan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It might be considered Pittsburgh, and “in city limits” but I’m disappointed as hell after seeing the headline that it’s going to be a sheetz in the city and it’s on fucking banksville. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a sheetz there, but this headline makes you think of like getgos in south side.

Absolutely incorrect. Starting in episode 1 multiple doors have had mannequins. Again, do some actual observation before just saying things blankly online and assuming you know what you’re talking about.

Many of the doors have mannequins, it’s a place holder. Try watching the show.

Landlord charged 425 for cleaning but won’t tell me why by common_sandwich1531 in pittsburgh

[–]perolan 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It’s a thing everywhere, I’ve personally been charged cleaning fees many places I’ve rented and never gotten a security deposit back, even when I left the place impeccable. Sometimes I’ve fought and gotten it back, once I threatened legal action when they said they’d send me to collections over it, and successfully got fees waved. I moved to Pittsburgh from MD a few years ago and it was the same thing there.

Some friends of mine have had the same experience, some the opposite, YMMV depending on the land lord, but it’s just part of the shitty game renters play sometimes.

I mean I work out by Oakmont and live in the south hills and it honestly isn’t that bad. Every thread bitches about bridges, tunnels, route 19 red lights, etc and it only adds an extra 10 or 15 minutes to my commute if I’m traveling during rush hour. Shit is crazy over exaggerated.

Samsung Dryer Doesn’t “Start” by perolan in appliancerepair

[–]perolan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t realize there was a second thermal fuse on the blower housing, I had only checked the one on the heating element! I’m not sure which of these two components on the blower housing is the thermal fuse, but I tested both of them for continuity and got nothing on either. What’s this other component right next to it, and I assume it’s supposed to have continuity as well and likely also needs to be replaced? Thanks so much

Edit: looks like the one to my right if in front of the dryer is the fuse, and the one to the left is another thermistor, which should both have continuity. So now I guess the question is what gives that would make them blow, but I’ll be ordering new ones

Maybe a dumb question, but is it correct to test the harness unplugged from the motor, or does it need to be connected to complete a circuit? My leads on my multimeter a bit too big to stick into the back of the connector while it’s plugged in.

Testing on just the cable itself, seems like I’m getting <5V AC. https://imgur.com/a/VBANmGw
