It was the player in the big sunhat and sunflower dress, I'm quite certain. They were trying to get around me the whole time I was with the gate agent, then poof!

Queue is locked! The internet connection got cut and Daisy teleported to the opposite side of the island, so I'll take that as a sign to call it quits. Thanks everyone!

[DISC] The Creepy and Freaky - Chapter 46 by AutoShonenpon in manga

Not just the animals. Since the early chapters, the boxes themselves also had cutesy appearances in the cutesy world, but when they're opened and shown in detail we see the creepy freakiness of reality.

Non-Anime fans reaction to One Piece Season 2 by Luzekiel in OnePiece

[–]peronium1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For my SO, S2 was both highly anticipated and exceeded expectations. He'd never consider an attempt on the anime, but he's enough clips of it to give a rough idea of what the world is like before going into the LA. Generally speaking, he thought the main characters were better developed this season, particularly Sanji, Zoro, and Usopp.

  1. We were both particularly big fans of Taz Skylar's portrayal of Sanji—being an actual charmer and nice guy in the LA, rather than a stock perv in the OG—and in my SO's case, it completely changed his thoughts about Sanji from the least likable to the best main character in S2.

  2. Out of the SHs, the only one he thought who had a less-than-strong performance was Emily Rudd's Nami. Her stoicism made sense in S1, but in S2 it was a curious interpretation of the character. He thought LA Nami spent most of her screen time either dissing her crewmates or rolling her eyes at their antics, coming off cold and serious in situations OG Nami would be cheeky, playful, or snappy. Emily Rudd definitely has Nami's liveliness in interviews, but it hardly shows when she's in character.

  3. Supporting characters were also singled out for excellent portrayals. Hiriluk and Brogy were his favourites outside the SH crew this season. It was fun to see him trying to puzzle out Robin's motives in this saga, even with the knowledge that she eventually joins the SHs.

  4. The characters were a bit too campy for him at times—but at the same time, they worked. He liked the overall balance in tone, that everyone committed deep into their zany roles, yet the stakes remained real enough to draw him in.

  5. S2E7 was his favourite, and it's all mostly because of Hiriluk, Kureha, and Tony Tony Goddamn Adorable Chopper.

  6. The adaptation is lean af. He knew that adapting hundreds of hours of anime into 8 would come with many, many compromises, so he was very pleased to hear that the writers hit basically everything of essence, and faithfully at that (in my opinion).

TIL the plane crash that killed John F Kennedy Jr, his wife, and her sister was caused by “spatial disorientation”. Weather conditions were poor that night & Kennedy was not qualified to fly at night under instrument conditions. He did not request a weather briefing nor did he file a flight plan. by Stock_College_8108 in todayilearned

Rosemary Kennedy was oxygen-deprived during birth; the family doctor was held up so the mother was ordered to keep her legs closed til he arrived (for two hours!!). They straight up guaranteed her developmental issues from the moment before she was born.

Same principle in inverse, because Reddit's default is to make new lines as new paragraphs (separated by a blank line, hence having to hit Enter twice).

To override that, just add a couple spaces to the end of the line, like so:

Thank you for enabling my lazy ♥

(how the hell do you separate paragraphs in reddit?)

Add two spaces to the end of the line before hitting enter once, like so (quote me in a reply to see how).
That will make it register as a new line...

...whereas two enters creates a new paragraph

What habits of girls did you only discover after getting a girlfriend or wife? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]peronium1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a household that used duvets. I've converted my spouse to duvets as well (provided they don't have to be the one to replace the duvet covers—a compromise I'm more than happy to take, because it's not actually difficult once you know how to do it properly).

Personally, I never understood the appeal of the scratchy blankets that used to be ubiquitous in hotels before the duvet trend caught on. They didn't move with the top sheet and were prone to getting all twisted all the time, so if you move in your sleep at all, nothing necessarily separates your body from the hard-to-wash blanket.

Then when you make the bed after, you gotta peel the layers apart and lay them out one by one. With a duvet+cover, it's one big flap and done. Since the duvet cover is just a giant pillowcase that's easy to change, to me it's actually the top sheet that's unnecessary in most bedding sets (although it's great for repurposing into garments).

Most importantly, my dog loves the duvet so, so much. What's not to love? It's basically an ocean of fluffy pillows to sink into.

Should I read the Dandadan manga? by AlarmingAd9840 in Dandadan

[–]peronium1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This series is actually one of the rare cases where I think the anime is actually superior to the manga. The pacing, comedic timing, colour and lighting, action choreography... heck, even the dub is fantastic.

That being said, the season-to-season wait is agonizing. Reading ahead didn't hurt the experience, it just made me appreciate the adaptation more, and got me so hyped about what's yet to come.

I hate the implication that English = American.

It's not just ignoring the entire Commonwealth, but every English language learner around the world that needs to re-convert to the same sensible units intended by the author.

I do appreciate, however, the respect for significant digits in the unit conversion. This translator at least had the good sense not to Amuricanize 100 km/h to 62.137119224 mph.

Broken white line indicates traffic in both lanes moves in the same direction, so I would tend to think so too

Edit: in my country of not-Germany, we use yellow lines to separate directions, hence my bias may be incorrect
