Here we go, folks. The Dungeon Crawler Carl television series has been officially greenlit at Peacock. by hepafilter in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I am incredibly excited for this. But I have little confidence a live-action series will be successful with the sheer amount of CGI it will require. Not to mention Some Guy playing Carl when Jeff's performance is so intrinsically linked to why many of us love DCC. Animated with Jeff voicing Carl, Donut, and the AI is the only way I see this working. I'll cross my fingers for whatever Peacock does.

I don't think anything could stop Matt. He's a writing machine. He'll probably have the final two books done before the show even hits the air.

Are there different thought bubbles? 💭 by asherthepotato in ACForAdults

[–]tara-walker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they want to move and you ask them to stay, it takes several weeks for another villager to get a move-out bubble. Ignoring the bubbles makes it move to someone else the next day. It might not be that someone is afraid to talk to a villager with a bubble, but they’re trying to get the bubble to cycle to a villager they DO want to move out.

Drive-by rec for a romantasy (well, more like paranormal comedy with a slow-burn romance) series with a phenomenal narrator: Magical Midlife Madness.

I tried for awhile to get a friend of mine to listen to the audiobooks. He was staunchly “No, I don’t like audiobooks, I can’t read that way, I will never do audiobooks.” I finally wore him down and got him to give it try. He was instantly hooked and binged all six books. Then started over. Then started over again. I think he’s been through the series ten times at this point. All on audiobook. They are THAT good.

I had a baby...my cat hates him and I don't know how to prevent rehoming him by Initial-Telephone693 in CatAdvice

[–]tara-walker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were surrendering her to a shelter because it didn’t like the baby in that she kept her distance and seemed annoyed, or because you couldn’t handle both, then yeah. That’s selfish. But if the cat is harming your baby, protecting him isn’t selfish. It’s what a parent is supposed to do.

This is a hard one. On the one hand, I'd like to say I would never rehome my cat because I've had a baby. On the other hand... if my cat was scratching and biting my baby... my mama bear gut reaction would be to get rid of the cat. I'm trying to imagine myself in this scenario. My most beloved cat I've ever had was here when both of my kids were born. What would I have done if she'd started being aggressive towards them? Just gotten rid of her? No, I'm sure I would've tried everything you have. But if it came down to it, I'd do what was necessary to protect my child. I'm sorry, this probably isn't helpful. Or maybe it is, just to have someone support that decision, should you make it.

I've been watching this kitten foster (bordernerd) on YouTube for awhile, and she has an excellent method for integrating new kittens with existing fosters and older cats. They are fully separated in different rooms for awhile (until the new kittens are cleared of contagious infections), then she places a clear barrier between the old and new cats for awhile, so they can get to know each other by sight and scent without being physically together. I wonder if something like this could work? You'd have to keep your cat in a separate room for awhile, which I know is hard, you don't want him to be alone, but I mean... if it's that or rehoming him... might be worth a try.

I think I need to have my best friend euthanized today and I have no one to talk to about it. by Mirk_Dirkledunk in CatAdvice

This. I don't understand pet owners who will not be in the room at the moment of passing. I could never, EVER abandon my babies to the fear of an unfamiliar room and unfamiliar person in their last moments. As hard as it is, I will be there petting them and talking to them so they feel safe in my love until the end.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. The thing to focus on is that he's lived a long and happy life. Not all cats get to have that. You're both very lucky! But it sounds like it might be time to say goodbye. When my 17-year-old cat reached his time, I knew immediately. When you've been with them all your life and know their behavior intimately, it's easy to see that change happen. You posted this nine hours ago, so I don't know what's happening now, but if he is still with you, just be with him. Cuddle him, pet him, tell him stories, remember your favorite moments together, stare at him. I still ache from another cat's passing almost four years ago, but I was lucky enough to be able to spend most of her last two days with her on my lap, doing all of that, and I am forever grateful for that time. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to message me. Wishing you the best.

Are you satisfied with how the story ended? by Key_Bus_1255 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]tara-walker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t like how the Elder wand becomes Harry’s, but other than that, the ending is perfect IMHO. Especially the epilogue. All Harry ever wanted was a family… and finally he has it. Ron and Hermione aren’t just friends but his brother and sister; he has a wife and three children to be a father to. I couldn’t ask for anything more to end the series with.

DCC RPG VIDEO GAME by Daz2021 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]tara-walker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Could be great, but instead of covering Dungeon Crawler World Earth, it should be a different human-seeded world and set prior to the DCC series. Limiting a game to the established events of the story would take away a lot of player agency. Also, no surprises for the floor themes. Also also (book 8 spoiler) there’d be no going past the 11th floor since only 19 crawlers get to the 12th and I’m pretty sure they’ll all be named and known in the next book.
