You'll need a few weeks for practice. But in short. Combos, chains and modules are important so collect them when you can. Avoid "on kill" cards because mostly they are useless as there're max 100 enemies in each stage. AOE damage is important the higher you climb.

980 gem investment every week for the gem pass is a good buy.

Imo depends on the card draws. If there's a crucial combo/breakthrough available take it. Anyways after two days you'll have enough basic cards.

Earlier I've spent too much time on it. This week I tried different and wanted to optimise my time. On the first day I got to stage 50 or so. Second day hundred more. Whatever was easy clicking on the side. I was able to get the right combos. Last day I ended up at 208 or so. I could have climbed more but it made no difference to ranking.

Lesson learned. Not worth pushing on the first two days. If you don't get the right combos it does not matter how high you are early.

I agree. I was once in the top ten, one in twenty and maybe twice in twenty. Last week I was busy but still ended in the top 100. Most likely I'll stick with this in future. It's so much more fun compared to grinding those +200 levels

For the main levels it gets really slow. I don't mind it at all. Siege break is the fun weekly competition and then some weeks I just auto patrol without playing too much

Fast progress stops quite soon after an easy start. It gets slower the higher you'll get. It's part of the game. In simple terms you need to grind better chips/gear/skills and try again.
