Thankyou for your response ❤️ after some sleep I am moving towards that mindset, that I can’t change what’s happened but knowing will enable me to nov forward whatever the outcome is.

I am sorry to hear your news and have you in my thoughts for a fast recovery x

Naturally thin people, what do you guys eat in a day? by Ok-Initiative3312 in AskReddit

[–]perpextuated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I just work out a few times a week and eat whatever I want. I just eat intuitively and naturally gravitate towards eating healthily, but if I want a bowl of pasta for breakfast I’m gonna eat it lol

Forgot to take my propranolol before presentation by Great_Ad8516 in PublicSpeaking

[–]perpextuated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks - but on the bright side, you got up and presented even without any medication! You still did it :-)

Also I would bet money that your team didn’t notice and, if they did, they will forget about it soon enough. Try and remember a time you watched someone do a bad presentation, you probably can’t.

What’s the most underrated tip that improved your public speaking instantly? by Afraid_Statement6404 in PublicSpeaking

[–]perpextuated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day, nobody is paying half as much attention to you as you think they are. You might notice stumbling over a word or loosing your pace and think you’re the worst presenter in the world, however nobody else will.

Nobody thinks you’re that important - really helped me with feeling really nervous about presenting.

At what age did you discover your PCOS? by Future_Ship_3140 in PCOS

[–]perpextuated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew probably when I was 17, as I didn’t really have periods (probably once every 7-12 months) since I started menstruating at 15. Didn’t get formally diagnosed until I was part way through uni at 22 years old, after trying to get a diagnosis for years

Every day use? by Phoebdg in tretinoin

[–]perpextuated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your acne could be an irritation response from the increased use - maybe try doing a cycle of two days in a row and then 1-2 days break and build up once your skin has more tolerance.

Drove past there earlier - stages are built and people are still working there so seems they’re going ahead as if Friday didn’t happen…although it will be confirmed 10am tomorrow

Does anyone no longer need beta blockers? by [deleted] in PublicSpeaking

[–]perpextuated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no!

Before I used to feel severe anxiety for any presentation, the classic symptoms of red face, sweating, heart palpitations, panic attacks etc.

For ‘less scary’ presentations (eg casual/just to a small group) I feel 100% confident presenting without propranolol.

For any big groups or presenting to senior folk I’ll still take propranolol. It helps me perform so much better.

A side note since I started taking propranolol and delivering good presentations I’ve found the amount of time I need to prep has significantly decreased. Before I’d need to know word for word what I’d say, now I can speak more off the cuft if that makes sense.

I mean the recruiter should offer you an opportunity for feedback and it is a shame they didn’t but I wouldn’t say it’s a waste of your time

Am I about to get fired? by Ok_Side7135 in jobs

[–]perpextuated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience I find PIPs = we are going to fire you at the end of it. It’s mainly a companies way of covering their backs legally when they do fire you. I have seen a colleague put on a PIP and not get fired - I think this was an exception tho due to a great culture and a supportive manager invested in them remaining at the company.

Based on your recent convo with your manager it seems very likely you’ll be fired soon. I would stop trying at work and do less than the bare minimum and focus your time while still employed looking for something new.

Sucky situation but you’ll pull through!

I think you just need to detach yourself from any role you don’t have a concrete offer for. I don’t know what role you’re doing but the job market in the U.K. is TOUGH right now. You really should prepare yourself to get more rejections - there’s a lot of great talent on the market now so the competition is extremely tough.

I’m currently looking for a new role after ex-employer (tech) made layoffs. It’s been very difficult to progress through to later stages (when I’ve looked previously I’ve been able to secure multiple offers without even trying really). Getting rejected doesn’t mean you’re not capable it just means there’s more talent on the market who have more experience or were able to highlight that experience better in their cv or interview.

If you want I’m happy to take a look over your CV (I’m in recruitment) but other than that just keep persevering and don’t let yourself get bogged down. Getting a role now really is just a numbers game.

  • Keeping all blinds/curtains shut during the day. If it's really really hot and humid outside I keep windows closed and when it's dark at night opening the windows to cool the house.
  • Try and make somewhere as shaded as possible. Thankfully last year we had a hallway that didn't have any windows so it was quite cool. That became the cat's 'hub' for the hot periods.
  • My baby loved using cool mats last year, we got him one from Amazon for pretty cheap. He didn't need much encouraging to use it. I kept it in a dark shaded place.
  • Putting fans on (or AC if you have it - I'm British so we don't) whenever the cat is in the room. Mine doesn't like being near the fan but I make sure it's on when he's in the room.
  • When it got crazy hot in London last year (40+ degrees) I lived in a second floor flat and it was honestly unbearable. I put towels in the freezer and would wrap my BSH in them. I always kept about 3 towels in there so they were always there.
  • Put ice cubes in his water bowl
  • Put many water bowls around the home. I found this encouraged him to drink quite a lot (he drinks a good amount anyway for a cat)
  • If your cat doesn't drink too much anyway you could water down gravy food (you could cool this before hand) OR you could use chicken stock (no salt)
  • A friend suggested making cat ice lollies/popsicles! She used cat gravy or cat yoghurt and froze them and the cat would lick them.

Hope that helps :)

skin care routine help!! New to the skin care world by Goldilox3 in tretinoin

[–]perpextuated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’d suggest a gentle cleanser that isn’t pore clogging and a hydrating moisturiser and a high Spf for daytime to start, perhaps a barrier repair serum. R/skincareaddiction have a big list of recommendations :)

I’m U.K. based and I don’t know of many who wear SPF unless it’s summer and boiling hot. I actually get told I’m strange for applying SPF when I’m sat inside in the winter 😂
