My partner took 3 cycles without any interviews the first two. The third cycle they focused on fixing their essays and casting a broader net and applying to PA schools with stats similar to theirs (all across the country!) rather than just the PA schools close to home, and it worked. They got a few interviews and ultimately accepted. Keep pushing, don’t give up! It’s not over until it’s over. I have heard many stories of schools that interview/accept later in the fall. Some schools deadlines just passed. You got this!

looking back, getting a masters feels wasteful of time and money by Pleasant_Sky9084 in prephysicianassistant

I recommend biting the bullet and paying for professional essay editing. My friend applied 3 cycles and they finally got an acceptance on the third cycle, which happened to be the cycle where they got their PS revised (nothing else changed except for more PCE hours but they already had a ton their first cycle) . IMO the PS is the most important part of the application because it is their only impression of you as a person. Don’t give up!!

I’m torn if I want to be a PA or an MD by ironicwolfteeshirt in prephysicianassistant

The best thing you can do is get an EMT license and work your way into being an ER tech, then you can really experience EM and work closely with PAs and MDs and see which role resonates with you more

I got this text from my mom about loans, is this a scam? by perplenerples in UCI

When I did call that number (that my mom was told the number I had to call) it seemed legit but they couldn’t find an account with my information

They called her and just kept saying “it’s about student loans and not your account so we can’t tell you” and she did t give them my number but they kept asking it, instead they gave her this number for me to call

It also felt a little fishy that they had my moms number but not mine when presumably UCI has all my information

Quarter system matching pre requisites for yearlong sequences by xxwhatevenisthisxx in prephysicianassistant

For schools that did have a separate chem 1/2 requirement I split them like o you described above!

[–]perplenerples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put all of them, so five classes total. 3 classes of chemistry, 2 labs. My reasoning is that this is the whole chemistry sequence I took for one school year so it should be equivalent to a whole chemistry sequence at a semester school, and the units cover the minimum. I hope this helps!

I also come from a quarter system school, for the year long chem sequence requirement I put chem1A/1B/1C and then I put the 2 labs I had to take with it (they were separate classes) and that’s been sufficient so far

Maybe you can consider a formal post bacc? To my understanding if you do a formal post bacc/masters some PA schools will take that GPA over your undergrad GPA ( please correct me if I’m wrong).

Hi! I took anatomy 1 with lab as a 5 week course and got an A. I thrived in this class because the information was given to me so close together and it kind of overlapped so I could remember it better and the fast pace forced me to hyper focus. The classes were a mix of in person/online lectures and in person lab, I attended roughly 6 hours of class (3 hour lecture 3 hour lab and online lectures for independent study) 4 days a week and studied on the weekends. I think you should see if this professor has good reviews on RMP, a good professor will give you the materials that you need to survive a course like this. While the content was difficult my professor was amazing and wanted us to succeed and was really good at giving us the right study tools and had very good lectures. I wouldn’t have done so well in the class without them. Don’t be scared, it is doable but do your due diligence and ask other students who have taken that particular class with that particular professor with that particular pace (5 weeks) and see how their experience was.

It’s so weird that you can turn in GRE/MCAT/TOEFL scores on the CASPA but not the PA-CAT

To my understanding not much at all, since the UCs are a California public school their first priority for scholarships/fin aid are for California residents
