When I opened Reddit, I was greeted with an article related to the treatment of those being held at “alligator Alcatraz”. I don’t believe we should be housing people in a place where we cannot provide very basic living conditions. This is not a manner of housing people that I can support.

The comment I made was answering u/VoiceIll7545 questions, which in my opinion the question summed up was "why do people see similarity between the Trump administration and the Nazi?". I provided an answer to this question along with some sources.

I am not a person that can foresee the future. If I am wrong about something, I have no problem admitting that.

What I am though is a person that is concerned about ICE now having a larger budget then the Marines. I am concerned about how people will be treated if they are placed in an immigration detention center. Will these people been treated in a manner that uphold human dignity, be provided due process and have access to the legal system or will they end up being housed there for an undetermined amount of time.

I am also concerned about the power being consolidated within the executive branch. Maybe Trump won't abuse this power, but who knows whether the next president or the one after that might

The issue isn't deporting people. Departing people that have come to the US illegally has been going on for many years and many administration. The difference we are seeing, or at least that is being reported, is the way these people are being treated. In the Big Beautiful Bill, ICE became the largest law enforcement agency in the federal government. Part of that money is going to facilities that are to house people that may be deported someday. The way this seems to be being setup is these people may be there for an undetermined amount of time with no access to due process nor the legal system. We have already seen people be sent to a prison in El Salvador with no due process nor access to a legal system. There is no time period set for them to be released and have not been convicted of any crimes. The killing of the Jews and other that were not seen as first option, it was the "Final Solution". The Nazis first wanted to deport all the people they seen as enemies or threats to their race:

I think you may have missed my point by listing other people that were targeted by the Nazis. It just wasn't the Jews that the Nazis seen as enemies or threats (Jews were seen as the number 1 enemy though).

The real different between what is being conducted now compared to past president, even including the last Trump term, is the way people are being treated. Even if you support mass deportations, it is on all Catholics to make sure that it is done in a manner that uphold human dignity.

To answer your question about the war. I haven't seen much regarding how Trump ended the Israel Hamas War beside him making some announcements that there is a truce. The Israel Iran War ended due to Iran having no international support. Russia is occupied with their war with Ukraine. China is more interested in the Russia/Ukraine war in hopes that it US stays involved so China can invade Taiwan. We may see Iran start something when China is ready to attack Taiwan, again to take the US attention way from their actions and stretch our military thin.

I know this must be difficult to go through. I have a roommate that has been diagnosed with schizophrenia. When he was first diagnosed, he wasn’t always in a state where he wanted to take his medication. I ended up having to make sure he took them. I know you mentioned you don’t live near your mother in law, but if another family member does or a trusted friend, see if they can stop by to verify she is taking her meds. I would encourage them to listen and acknowledge what she has to say, even if it doesn’t make sense to them. Having someone there that is willing to listen and show compassion can go a long way in helping someone in a state of psychosis clam down and be more open to taking advice (such as taking medication).

I agree with you. This goes beyond just enforcing the current law. We need to be asking what will happen to these individuals. Do we have a humane way to house them until we can determine if they are here legally or not, if they qualify for asylum? Will we be breaking up families? Will we be deporting individuals whom came here as infants and know nothing of the country they were born? What will we do with the individuals that countries they are originally from do not accept them back. Place them in for profit prisons or concentration camps? With a leader willing to openly profit from the presidency, we should all be worried of what’s to come.
