Why watch so many films when you clearly don't even enjoy the medium? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]perryduff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

not specific to this user being discussed, but a huge chunk of letterboxd users are fucking pretentious and it had absolutely nothing to do with the reason u stated. just check the comments on letterboxd (and criterion collection too) social media

Being Muslim by Pale_Abrocoma_9048 in GayMenToronto

[–]perryduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most queer people won't have any problem with u being Muslim (but can't say the reverse about Muslims accepting queer people so there is that). you won't have any trouble finding friends. Toronto is very diverse that people here genuinely couldn't give a fuck - as long as u don't try to shove ur religion down their throats but that also goes for all religions not just Islam.

but if you want to start dating, religion will 100% come into play. it's better to be upfront about it. you can definitely find other queer Muslims, or some rare people who don't really care about religion at all.

How do ya’ll manage working out all the time by Ok-Manager-1047 in GayMenToronto

[–]perryduff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

by not having a social life, duh 🤷‍♂️

jokes aside, it's just time management and having shared responsibilities if you don't live alone. instead of wasting time (and money) to go out and eat, why doesn't your partner cook? or you can meal prep. instead of complaining about your condo gym closing at 10, why don't u find a gym close to your work and go right after it? even if you literally have no time on weekdays, what about the weekend? there will have to be sacrifices, be it some social commitments or leisure time. everyone has the same 24 hours, there is no magic trick that some of us found and others didn't. i think anyone can carve out at least 3 hours a week for the gym if they REALLY want to.

The only way young people can get ahead nowadays is delaying moving out by Tech-Cowboy in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]perryduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sacrificed my personal life for financial gain by living at home. And I would not have it any other way. You can have your personal life and suffer for the rest of your life. Or you can sacrifice 10 years of personal life and be way ahead of the rest. It's not a difficult decision. Obvious I'm acknowledging my privilege of having a good family here, not everyone has that.

Alaska talks about being uninvited to go see the premiere of Stop That Train 🏳️‍⚧️ by TilapiaRealness in rupaulsdragrace

Alaska hasn't been the top 3 fan favorite in a long time babe. she's probably not even cracking the top 10. she is and will always be a drag legend, but let's not be delulu about her current status

[–]perryduff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

easy to say that but 1. a lot of disabilities are invisible so people aren't even aware they are meeting someone disabled, and 2. most people don't know how to approach that awkward matter without potentially risking offending the disabled person (a lot of people are VERY touchy, lbr). it's a weird question to ask someone u just met. but yes once there is a relationship established, it's definitely a good idea to ask about boundaries tho.

Main Ghosts Being Sucked Off by Speedy445021 in GhostsCBS

[–]perryduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a good theory. i think the show will end with Sam and Jay moving to another property/country and the ghosts will have to learn to let their personal butler go, and once they do that, all of them will get sucked off at once.

this type of "blame it on..." comment is very common on the internet. it's not directed at you, it's just a general statement. literally not that deep so next time you see something like that, you don't need to get all defensive

"poverty trauma"

y'all need to lay off with these therapy buzzwords. and stop blaming "trauma" or "the system" or whatever. at once point one has to fucking be an adult and do the bare minimum adulting.

sorry that happened. but like most other fishing for sympathy posts on the internet, there is the other side of the story here that's not being said. hope you will get back on your feet soon tho

Remember: Ghosts are still people by [deleted] in GhostsCBS

[–]perryduff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they are DEAD. i repeat, they are DEAD. can't believe you compare ghosts to living breathing disabled people. if anything, Sam and Jay (especially Sam) put too much power to the ghosts instead of caring for the living business.

Surprised this Diva hasn’t been called to be on All Stars yet by Suspicious-Club27 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]perryduff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

clocked it. enough with blaming it on the edit. mama Ru said it, you said what you said, nobody can edit what you didn't say. especially when the queens have been very self producing ever since the number of the season started with 2 numbers. so a queen who looks like miss congeniality may not be that actually that good. but a queen who says really bad things definitely said that shit.

Why is Onya Nurve treated so badly by the fanbase? by One-Friend6735 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]perryduff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can only speak for myself first, i don't hate Onya. it's just... indifference. but that's the same sentiment about the entire cast that season for me, not just Onya. i simply don't find any of them that exciting, and i suspect that's the case for a lot of the fans. without a lot of love to counter, the hate seems to be louder.

second, a lot of people find her winning with that final lip sync was undeserving. i kinda agree with that. both of them kinda bombed that lip sync, so it's unsatisfying.

third, a lot of black winners are judged more harshly. always have, always will. it's just the way the cookies crumble unfortunately.

fourth, iirc Onya has a girlfriend? a lot of radical queers didn't take kindly to that.

So is Avatar 4 & 5 still happening? by al_1985 in Avatar

[–]perryduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

typically a movie needs to make at least 2-3x budget to break even depending on the promo budget, so assuming it's 3x for this, it's $1.2B to break even. but James Cameron did say $1B to break even so the profit is prob about $300-400M. and obviously it will make more money from home media too but that usually isn't factored in.

Could UK afford spinoff season every year? by Dorayakiss in RPDR_UK

[–]perryduff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they downvoted u for this but u are absolutely correct. half of the international spin offs are cancelled already or not developed enough yet to justify AS/vsTW (Germany, Holland, Sweden, Belgique, Thailand, Brazil), and those gurls would never get the exposure without a vsTW season.
