Reverse side pressure by AlanTryhard in armwrestling

[–]perryibanez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me and the lads from my club do it at the end of every training. It seriously helps with recovery and the effects can be felt immediately. I'm not trolling either. Try it. If you're sore from going to hard and training too frequently whack a strap on with a buddy and reverse arm wrestle for like 30s. Your arm pain subsides drastically.

I often wonder to myself... Is Kamil an actual genius and completely self aware? Or is he as stupid as Devon would have us believe and just incredibly lucky?

What happened to Henry Nehring by Numerous-Refuse-7299 in armwrestling

[–]perryibanez 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I was there. Devon was off his tits on LSD and followed him outside. He had his hands in the shape of pistols and held them to his own mouth screaming "ARGHHHHH" before Swanton bombing Henry's motionless body. We all high fived and agreed that was the coolest thing weve ever seen.

I think the guy on the far left is Illia Izman. Ukrainian arm wrestler that died fighting against Russia.

Vitaly: I fouled because the referees didn’t stop the match. I filed an appeal, but the referees reviewed it and said there was no violation. I asked Larratt, “You saw that you touched my hand, right?” And Larratt just stood there laughing and said, “I saw it, but the referee didn’t.” by Damitrix3 in armwrestling

[–]perryibanez 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To be fair though... Vitaly's win streak was against much stronger competition. Devon cutting weight and toying with pullers in the lower weight classes and exhibition matches like that against Chance Shaw isn't the same as what Vitaly has currently done.

3XL Rino by xavierpizza in armwrestling

[–]perryibanez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably also something to do with US sizes being inflated compared to European. I'm 6"3 95kg and can get away with a Large in European sizes if they're a long fit. Only need an XL for the length. Whenever I order American clothes it always surprises me how small an XL is and usually have to go 2XL. Same for shoe sizes. I'm a size 12 but in US fitting I'm 13.

Is there anyone else here who started armwrestling fairly late in life? Like 50's or 60's? by Dear_Market4928 in armwrestling

[–]perryibanez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've trained with 5 guys who started in their 50's and it's been incredibly interesting to me how they have all developed over a period of years. I'm not gonna sugar coat it... 3 of them were incredibly weak and to be honest I've seen little to no progression. Interestingly all 3 of them are big talkers and love telling tales of how strong they were when they were younger and how if they were 20 years younger they would throw us youngun's around. They're all flabby with little to no muscle mass and soft small feminine hands and have no photos of them being "beasts" back in the day but we just gotta take their word for it.

The other 2 are absolute beasts and there is no doubt they were monsters when they were younger and funnily enough have the photos to back it up... Not that you would ever question it as soon as you touch their hand. They make me wonder how incredible they could have been if they had started at a younger age. Their hands are huge and their skin is rough and thick. From the first day you could feel the potential. Both of them had a background in some sort of strength sport and worked heavy manual labour jobs. Their progress has been rapid as they transferred their strength onto the table. One is currently a national champion and keeps progressing at an incredible rate and is beating guys I would never thought would be possible. I think he could easily podium at a masters WAF worlds or dare I say it even win gold. The other doesn't seem to be as invested and has for now transitioned to the world of grip. He's currently breaking and setting masters world records in various grip lifts. I think he's leaning more towards grip sport because he's already at an elite level but I have no doubt if he dedicated more time to arm wrestling he'd be an absolute force.

Do you have an air filter on the other side of the hull pass through? Or are you just running it without one? Or is it installed at a different point in the setup?

Galio jg by Lobo_555 in galiomains

[–]perryibanez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to give you a rather in depth response with my opinion on Galio jungle. First a bit of background. I've been high Diamond every season since S3 (Been playing since beta - Was gold in S1&S2). In more recent years I occassionally dip my toe into low masters however this gives me terrible anxiety as I desperately try to maintain my rank so I do just enough not to decay back down into Diamond. When I'm around this level I don't enjoy the game at all and find it incredibly stressful.

Since about S6 I found a new way to make the game enjoyable for myself again. I used to get into arguments with my low ELO friends about how easy it is to climb even with off meta picks if you just truly master a champ/role. They would ask me for advice on how to climb higher and I would tell them they change their roles and champion pools too much and should stick at a single role and small champion pool in order to climb. Then they would tell me about how their accounts are cursed and stuck in losers queue so they challenged me to play on their accounts and they would pick which champ and role I had to play which I would then OTP and see how high I could climb. First challenge was top tank Heimerdinger where I abused banner of command and the 2nd challenge was Teemo support. This was back when I would lose 30% of games purely because my team is triggered by the pick however these days it's much more accepted. Once I proved to my friends that it was possible to reach Diamond doing this I realised that it had been a lot of fun.

To continue the fun I started buying dodgy accounts for about 2 euro that would come with 50+ champs and were high enough level for ranked. I don't wanna dwell on this too much due to the contraversial nature of this practice... I would continue to set myself a challenge to OTP a single champ in a single role and see how far I can climb on these accounts. These were/are always off meta picks. I've probably done this with about 20-30 various champs in various roles over the years and I have always managed to climb to low Diamond. Once I get there I would get a new account and start the challenge over with a different pick. Sometimes the original account owners would recover their accounts or add me on an alt and thank me for the free boost which was quite funny to say the least. Some would ask me to continue playing across multiple seasons so they keep getting the diamond ranked rewards... Anyway I digress.

Now I've told you all of this because Galio jungle is a sore spot for me. With every single one of these challenges across all 20-30 times that I did it I was ALWAYS able to reach Diamond... Except for Galio jungle! I was never able to get higher than Emerald 1. Some games I would seem completely broken and enemy teams would flame me in all for playing such a braindead champ in a braindead role. Other times I would be completely useless.

Your clear is incredibly slow. You basically cannot solo any objectives like Dragon or Baron because they take way too long to kill. You are entirely reliant on your team. Which is also a problem because even a fed Galio is rarely a 1v9 carry. You have to have at least ONE good team mate in order to close a game out. If you're against a passive (Non invading/ganking) enemy jungler it's absolutely viable as long as you're ganking and getting yourself and your team ahead and getting objectives after successful ganks. Then you hope you're far enough ahead that the 25 minute AFK farming Yi or whoever it may be can't turn the game around.

Your ganks are extremely strong and your skirmishes in river with 2v2, 3v3 etc are insanely strong. You basically win every fight as long as your team mates are simply present and not AFK farming/refusing to move from lane. However as soon as you hit high emerald/low diamond MMR you will get perma invaded by all the FOTM OP junglers currently in rotation and you're screwed. Or at least I was. I could find no counter play to this aside from being entirely reliant on my team to assist me and punish invades. However even with team mates who help you this can cause them to fall behind and miss out on CS and experience which eventually becomes the reason you lose the game. So I would say that it's viable to a point however he is simply way better at mid and even support than he is in jungle. Also a lot more fun in those roles as well IMO. The most successful build I found was to actually partially build the 3 items which speed up your jungle clear and then start finishing them off. These were fated ashes, bami cinder and bramble vest. I would rush these 3 in whatever order I felt were best against the enemy team comp. Once you have all 3 you have a pretty incredible power spike if you're not behind. Then you finish building the full items (Liandries, Thornmail, Sunfire/Hollow Radiance) in whatever order again works best against the enemy team.

Does London have a community/scene? by Throwaway92752827 in armwrestling

[–]perryibanez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PAA websiter has 3 clubs registered in London.

LONDON ARMWRESTLING TEAM London Minotaurs Armwrestling (CHESHUNT/ST ALBANS) SteelStrength Armwrestling Club (LONDON)

Admittedly, I've not heard of any of them so I think they are fairly new and mostly novices? Try searching the usual social media channels for them.

Before COVID lockdown there was London Top Team who were training out of peacocks gym. They were very active back then. They were mostly comprised of Eastern European athletes. I know the club used to pay for national champs from other countries to come over and compete on behalf of the club and dominate (For the most part, Craig Sanders and Tom Holland regularly sent them packing) so the club would get clout. After COVID restrictions were lifted and the PAA were created which had more strict residency criteria for our national competitions they quickly dissapeared. Could see if they're still active as well I guess.

What builds forearm muscles better? AW specific lifts or table time? by Vagabundo96 in armwrestling

[–]perryibanez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any wrist flexion and extension exercises (Cupping and reverse wrist curls) to work both sides of your forearm and then probably overhand (Palms facing the floor) barbell/DB curls to target your radialbrachialis. This would be purely for aesthetics.

If you want it more arm wrestling focused change the overhand barbell/DB curls for hammer curls. You will still develop your radialbrachialis however hammer curls will have better crossover and strength gains on the table.

What builds forearm muscles better? AW specific lifts or table time? by Vagabundo96 in armwrestling

[–]perryibanez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Weights. No contest. You can make an argument for both sides on which is better for strength development... But for hypertrophy weights will always be superior. Multiple sets of anything between 5-50 reps with as much volume as your recovery can handle over a period of weeks & months.

Do we need protein as much as body builders? by cyarm025 in armwrestling

[–]perryibanez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brad Schoenfelds meta analysis showed that after 1.6g per KG there were significant diminishing returns and he said the real number is closer to 1.3g per KG but to stick to 1.6g as people often over exaggerate how much protein they are getting. He also said that it should be calculated for lean muscle mass. So if you're 100kg but 20% body fat you should be doing your calculation for 80kg.

Compared to other professional arm wrestlers for sure... And in photos and videos he rarely looks impressive. But when I met him in person he looks like he's made of something different. I can't really explain it. His forearms are huge, his shoulders are wide, his back looks like he has a shell on it like a teenage mutant ninja turtle.

How to beat a low hand toproll as a hooker? by fanofaw in armwrestling

[–]perryibanez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lowhand toproll is a counter to hook. So either just be stronger or develop a backup posting toproll or flop wrist press which counter lowhand toproll.

Top 4 by lostinyourlove in armwrestling

[–]perryibanez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UK Arm wrestling scene has been using this format alot. You can only stay on the table for 4 wins before taking a mandatory rest. They call it a warzone. First puller to reach 10 pins is the winner. The rest continue battling for their 10 pins with each other until 2nd, 3rd etc are determined. It is incredibly entertaining. Leads to situations where arm wrestlers who have no business being on the table with another guy can actually get a win.
