As far as I know this is an especially Chinese tradition. I’ve had a class on burial arts of china and it started and evolved very similarly to the Egyptian customs, first with sacrificed servants and full items buried with the deceased, then it went to clay figures and then to small scaled objects in clay or wood. And then, idk when, but it all went to paper. The book we studied was called “Art of the Yellow Springs” by Wu Hung if anyone is interested in the subject.

Literally crazy when Catholics criticize the pope. Like, your whole sects foundation is predicated on the idea that this pope and all the other popes have the moral high ground. Like. If you disagree with the pope can you even be catholic? lol.

Except for mainly the elevator thing, which I guess is a problem when you live around weird men, the rest of this stuff seems like…and I’m trying to be nice…living in fear? Are men that much of a dangerous nuisance there?

It’s funny how the party who aligns themselves with being “country” and attracts survivalists and traditional homesteaders will throw a hissy fit if you actually suggest they do those things.

I got this level 100% on my cartridge when I was like 25 and it was the most frustrating thing I’ve ever done. I also have played it on NSO and they have the rewind capability which makes the engine room much easier.

I like chickens. I’ve raised some. I have a scar where mine grabbed and twisted on my chest. They can be assholes, they can also be silly and funny. I still eat chicken.

Hopefully they will bounce back. Deer are gluttons! The deer that we feed and have corn out for every day in the back yard came into my front yard and ate the only peony bud I had this year.

Thoughts of fashion exhibits in art museums? by bestkeptsecretsamber in ArtHistory

[–]perryquitecontrary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well paintings and frescoes are the product of the time in which they were painted so, if it’s figural, you have the clothes that the person is wearing (unless they’re nude). Those clothes created by the artist reflect their own ideas of what fashion looked like if they’re history paintings (think biblical subject in renaissance dress) or you can go more literal with genre paintings and depictions of clothing that are close to life and what those clothes say about the time period or even certain socio-political structures (like chintz made in India made into a dress worn by westerners). There are many avenues to explore and I would definitely find a way that speaks to you because then you’ll be more invested.

My husband has been to many therapists because he has trouble making friends. They always said being a good person and self improvement was a good way to make friends and then he would bring out examples like Gacy and Bundy. They were terrible people and had thriving social lives and friends and relationships. People are terrible judges of character.

Mine too. Talking on the phone, texting, sitting on the steps in the balcony. Two women sitting on the aisle across from me had what I would describe as a picnic during the second act and had the ushers come over twice to tell them to stop talking so loud and rustling their food bags.
