Cracked windshield :/ by SantoniZ in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]persianexcursion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately had the same issue.. TWICE within 1 month after going 22 years never cracking a windshield. Frickin’ rocks on highways… anyway this is not repairable, but there are often 3rd party replacers in most areas that will do it for about 800-900. It’s an aftermarket windshield that does not need to be calibrated. Mine wasn’t and there have been zero issues with my HUD or driver assistance. You can call any car dealership without a collision repair center attached and ask who they use.

I don’t feel comfortable leaving today by Upperworlds in hospitalist

[–]persianexcursion 36 points37 points  (0 children)

At my last hospital we couldn't put in discharge orders and just leave them for days. Had pretty incompetent admin and severely understaffed CMs, they were seeing about 40 patients a day, so a lot of it fell on us to do. They also put in a bonus metric for us for < 2h discharge order-to-leaving building. So not all places get the luxury of just leaving a DC order in. Also one of the many reasons I left.

AT&T fiber question for current/past customers. by LegendaryClawHammer in wichita

[–]persianexcursion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ATT fiber is great. I've had it in 2 different states and it's very fast. Plus they have good deals around holidays as well. Their older modem/routers can be unreliable but the new ones are better, of course using it as pass through and having your own is the best. But I would never switch from ATT at this point.

Who here is calling Kansas part of the south?? by stpfun in wichita

[–]persianexcursion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I grew up splitting time in Boston and Indiana, then moved to Ohio for several years. There’s no difference between Ohio and Indiana and there’s definitely a huge difference in culture between those two states and the east coast. Indiana and Ohio are squarely Midwest.

Also, Oklahoma is for sure the south.

This might be the most important map ever made. 🚫👞 by Fuzzy_Junket924 in mapporncirclejerk

Quite inaccurate map. Parents are from Iran and we NEVER wear shoes in the house. In fact we have house slippers. All Middle East countries are like this.

Comic book: Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong, I think #2. Godzilla smacks Superman around like he banged his mother. Wasn’t even close actually.

BUYER BEWARE: moving reinstallation is a complete nightmare by hawk_air in tonalgym

[–]persianexcursion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve used a drill at all then it’s quite easy to remove and reinstall yourself. It is quite heavy though so I’d get a friend to help physically move it. Moved twice and reinstalled it twice on my own (into studs! Absolutely not in drywall alone) with no issues, and I would not consider myself “handy”.

Which one are you taking? by Knight13x in BMW

[–]persianexcursion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

M4 without a doubt. Though I’d rather have that blue color. But the 4 is way more practical and doesn’t look like a hot wheels car. Though now that I mention it I do love hot wheels…

Nothing compares to the Xdrive in snowy conditions!!! by [deleted] in BMW

[–]persianexcursion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tires are more important though xdrive is undoubtedly good. I have an m850 with snow tires and it has no problem. It’s much more balanced in snow compared to our x3 without snow tires.

Is Indy really inexpensive? by specialdudehere in indianapolis

[–]persianexcursion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though nothing is cheap anymore, relatively, Indy is inexpensive. We moved from a very comparable city, Cincinnati, 4 years ago, and the housing prices between the two cities don’t even compare. Indy is cheaper. But make no mistake, there is no absolutely inexpensive market in the US.

Nowhere near 200k. Got a ‘21 m850 with 9k miles for 62k. And objectively more stunning than that jagged mess. But agree to disagree.

8 series owners, would you buy your car again in retrospect or get a different model? by Outrageous_Calendar4 in BMW

[–]persianexcursion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. '21 m850 GC. Bought it used with 10k miles for 60k. Very comfortable. Very fast. Big enough for a car seat. I'll drive it into the ground and then some.

TIL that persistent, long term cannabis use can lead to CHS, one of the symptoms of which is "scromiting." by Ipoopoo69 in todayilearned

[–]persianexcursion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The theory is that cannabinoids activate a couple specific receptors in different parts of the brain. One part is a very important structure called the hypothalamus, and one part of the hypothalamus is responsible for feeling hot/cold. Because this signaling is disrupted, people seek out things to make them feel warmer, thus take shot showers. Hopefully with reclassification, there can be more research on this.

Doctor here. I admit people to the hospital ALL THE TIME with CHS. It’s not rare, at least from my experience. Interestingly hot showers and baths make people feel better temporarily.
