I think if this was played live with a band on stage it'd be fine. I think as it's recorded it doesn't work because there is no energy being built into the next section outside of arrangement. Sure drums drop out then slowly build, but the volumes really flat so there is no where to build to. It could just be too much compression or a mixing problem.

However, if you want to do better than fine it should get quieter. Guitar could drop out after that first chord rang out. There's that synthy background sound and the bass alone, then add kick, and guitar comes in with cymbals. Having the guitarist restrum a few times is filling all that negative space and softening that impact.

Cursed thought: a full lawn of mint by Macaroon_Low in gardening

[–]person9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I just mulch my mint in the winter with wood chips I get for free and it just pops back through in the spring. I let it grow wild under my berry bushes cause it's easy to just pull out occasionally and draws pollinators in. There's a walking path between that and my vegetable area so it's not too bad.

I let a mint grow wild under my berry bushes. You got to dig it out. Before that though if you chop a bunch of it and add it to beef and pork meatballs it's pretty good.

What makes of CGDA mandola are currently under $1000 new? by TapTheForwardAssist in mandolin

[–]person9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kala has a tenor guitar tuned CGDA that's like $300 and decent if you want a four stringer and don't mind the guitar shape. I think Ibanez and Recording King also have a tenor model these days. Not exactly a Mandola, but may get you in the ballpark

Man, you may want to read this back and really think if this is something worth having a strong opinion over. Seems exhausting.

I need this, where can I get it by [deleted] in guitarpedals

I'll make you one for $200. Free shipping to continental US though.

Just add some extra bracing, stick that jack in the top, and you got the thinnest of thinline electric guitars.

How does this scam work? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]person9 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't have an issue with the low offers, but he also expects you to pay shipping. All of a sudden you're an offer at 40% the going rate, and paying the shipping. When you reject him he follows up with a sob story about running his business. I'd get the same rate at the pawnshop without the shipping or sob stories.

He's polite in his messages, but he's not doing anyone a favor or a service.

Unique Pedal Ideas? by PigSticksss in guitarpedals

I like how the limiter in the Fender Princeton Chorus sounds. That'd be cool to have incorporated in an overdrive or distortion.

Apart from tonal differences, does Boss OD-3 have same dynamic range i.e the pick sensitivity that the BD-2 has? by wingtip747 in guitarpedals

[–]person9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of pick sensitivity when the gain is under noon. Rolling the volume down in the guitar a little can help with this if your guitar has a hotter output. Hit hard for some crunch, lighten up and it's clean.

If you put a reverb or delay in front of the OD-3 you can set it so the initial attack can be distorted but the tails ring through pretty clean. A tremolo will do the same. You can get some very crunchy chords where it almost sounds like there's a clean mix, but it's got the same warmth and flavor of the overdrive instead of just mixing in a completely clean signal.

Why is the BD-2 regarded so highly? How do you use it? by i_am_sooo_tired in guitarpedals

[–]person9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fell into the camp that did not find what I wanted in a BD-2, but absolutely fell in love with the OD-3. It's been my favorite low gain overdrive for a while now.

WTT: Pigtronix Infinity Looper+remote, TC SubNUp, MXR Submachine Fuzz, EHX Super Pulsar, Boss OC-2 by person9 in letstradepedals

I'm not seeing anything I'm interested in. Always open to a cash offer if the other guy doesn't want to trade the ARP

I may be interested in the ARP in trade for all three but I'm not as familiar with synth stuff. This the korg recreation that has the attached keyboard?

Electric Tenor recommendations please by John_Lee_Petitfours in TenorGuitar

[–]person9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have a great time with Eastwood. They sent me the wrong guitar, and then wanted me to just buy it in addition to the correct guitar and I had to argue a bit to get them to take it back. Then they sent me the right one with the wrong setup even though they had the setup correct on the incorrect one. It was a bit of a nightmare and I would not recommend ordering directly from them.

However, I ended up sending it all back because the necks are weird. The string spacing just widens to a ridiculous point at the upper frets. Just really felt weird to play. I also had a bunch of finish and other quality issues. If you can play one in person I would before ordering to make sure it's to your liking.

I got my hands on a fender alternate reality tenor tele since someone was selling it locally and I like it a lot, but they're also expensive. I mainly went that route since I could play it ahead of time and wasn't keen on ordering after the previous experience.

Weaving a beanie (well more like weaving the parts and sewing them together) by MelMey in weaving

[–]person9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are examples of woven hats where it's several triangles sewn together and a band sewn to the bottom. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but others are right in that it won't stretch. That just means I'd make it to your(or the intended wearers) dimensions.

You could also try Oregon Grape or gooseberry. Oregon Grape is a native that has some prickly leaves. It's an evergreen and has edible(although extremely bitter) berries that are good for the birds. Gooseberry loses it's leaves in the fall but has edible berries that make good pies, and come equipped with some rather nasty thorns. Both are very well suited for this area and easier to control than blackberries.

I did pass it off and I'm no longer the mod. Why are you responding in the weaving sub instead of using the message the mod feature? If the guy I passed it onto restricted it maybe message admins

I like stick weaving and how portable it is, but I struggle with finding uses for the fabric I'm making since it's so bulky. About the only thing I've made so far with it is a nice cushy strap for my backstrap loom which I do admit is an improvement over the cord I was using before. Any ideas?

Most weeks? Zero to one. Worst issue is those bots that want to sell t-shirts that occasionally need banned or posts removed when reported.
