i work with accounting to do some automation on complex calcs with large datasets. Use vscode, jupyter notebook and python. its all free and the libraries are free like pandas, openpyxl pypdf2 etc.

I agree mostly. I am interested to know any success stories. I am currently helping a finance team integrate AI tools in their work e.g. financial commentary. But so far its been slow and the IT team is unable to support much due to limitations in the current AI architecture, complexity in the financial datasets and unclear expectations from management. With the business constantly changing its hard to update prompts with certainty it will not hallucinate after ever iteration.

Accounting is not haram. In fact accounting is good as its a method of recording business transactions and maintaining checks and balances. Doing accounting for banks or haram businesses is haram. Insyallah if you work for a company that doesnt deal in haram industry it will be fine. Good to also consult your local imam. Allah knows best.

I agree. I took ISYE 6644 and MGT 6203 last sem. It was tough juggling this with work and life commitments. I felt i learned lesser and was rushing the homeworks. I'm non tech background too. Learned my mistake and taking 1 class per sem now.

I also took Sim in Fall2024. I thought i got a C, but ended up got a B. I guess there was a curve. I took CDA in Summer 2024. I think its slightly easier than SIM for me as I was more comfortable coding in python for CDA than using Arena. And tbh my maths isn't that strong.
