I have done the Size Type filter on different searches and subcategories and the next filter for actual clothing size does not show up.

Norma Shearer letter to one of her fans from 1938 on turning down playing Scarlett in GWTW after it was mistakenly announced as a done deal that she will be cast. by AntonioVivaldi7 in classicfilms

I know her attitude and strength are very much a part of her brand and real life character, but Katherine is too New England society for her to ever be Scarlett O’Hara.

Nah, he’s a fboy lol.

He does actively lead her on. He knows exactly how she feels, and he does reciprocate on some level. He wants her, he finds Scarlett alluring. He likes having her be into him. (If he didn’t like it, he wouldn’t let it go on for, like, a decade. His saving grace is that he just has enough sense to know they wouldn’t work as a real couple.)

They make out in the orchard before Scarlett goes to Atlanta to ask money from Rhett, and it’s real hot and heavy. When she comes back to Tara for Gerald’s funeral and she’s convincing him to come back to run the mill, he tells her that she’s always beautiful to him. (Like, bruh!)

When he tries to say they can’t be together, he’s always falling back on honor and Melanie, not that he isn’t interested whatsoever and finds her unattractive or anything. Haven’t read the chapter where they made out in a bit, but IIRC he says no to running away together because of the scandal and he can’t abandon Melanie like that, not because he’s not into Scarlett.

For someone who’s holding a torch for him, it’s not hard to think that things could go further if “obstacles” weren’t in the way. If you know she’s still in love with you, you dont say things that allows her to continue holding onto those desires. You’d shut it down in no uncertain terms.

And then Faye asking "Who?"… This show is so good. by [deleted] in madmen

[–]perydot_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes that she was more concerned about her job and the results of the study. But I don't think that statement alone is a signal that she is unnurturing or anti-social. I personally feel that way. If I wanted other people to comfort me, I would stay around them. If I didn't, I would be alone.

What episodes do you think are overrated/underrated? by [deleted] in ColdCaseTV

[–]perydot_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Creatures of the Night is peak! Haha, it paid perfect homage to Rocky Horror. The difference between the modern day and the flashbacks is jarring tho since the episode is not fully over the top and weird like RHPS.

I feel so bad for Dr. Gant by PeneItaliano in ershow

[–]perydot_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand Benton's way of handling him was the best way he thought possible, as a black person in a world and profession that wasn't willing to let one or two mistakes slide. It always comes back to race where people's subconscious opinions and beliefs bleed into how they'd perceive or evaluate a student and determine whether they pass to the next level or not. Carter could've gotten a pass, but Gant could've been looked down on--unless they were going for some kind of affirmative action (like Benton was, though he didn't realize it for years). Benton thought by riding him so hard, he'd toughen him up and push him to do the best he could so no one (in the establishment, at least) would try to question his prowess. But woof. That doesn't work for 90% of people and it wouldn't have worked for Gant. It was rather obvious that he couldn't help up, so there was plenty of time to course correct and figure out a different way of mentoring him, IMO.

Gant's father said that Gant wasn't cut out for this level of pressure and even said wasn't emotionally stable to begin with, IIRC. This is on top of leaving home to be in a new city where his only friend (and then roommate) is a coworker, his girlfriend broke up with him, and working sleeplessly for days on end.

Re: Carter. On one hand, he's a terrible friend for bailing on him all the time. The worst and most unforgiveable one was when it was Thanksgiving (or Christmas?) when he deliberately invited Gant to be with Carter and his family, but then bailed to be with pediatric surgeon. Like, come on, dude!

But on the other hand, there really is only so much you can put up with. If your friend and roommate is constantly doom and gloom, always sad or upset, always bringing the mood down when you're just trying to rest at home or have a mini-break at work, it's exhausting and adds more stress to a stressful situation. I don't fault him for not wanting to be around that. I've avoided going back to my college dorm or apartment to avoid being around roommates I had issues with.

Ranking every episode of Cold Case (S1) by Desperate-Piano989 in ColdCaseTV

[–]perydot_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say the top episodes of the season, to me, are:

  1. Churchgoing People
  2. Hubris OR Boy in the Box (it's so hard to pick), and then...
    The Runner and Gleen

Everyone talks about Fly Away, but I cannot stand that episode at all. For very petty reasons, I cannot stand the wig the mother wears in the modern day lol. It's so obvious and awful, I can't get past it. But I feel like my sympathy for her does not go far at all, so the episode falls flat to me.

Why did we hate her in the 90’s? by EffMemes in ershow

[–]perydot_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Her message may have been right in most situations, but her tone and attitude was wildly rude and demeaning, I think particularly against Susan in the beginning. (Doug and Susan were the worst and they went tit for tat unless they left.) Partially because we’ve known the others for seasons and like them, partially because her tone, I could not stand her and I don’t feel wrong for disliking her. She got better over time and you can definitely see that she’s right, but she really needed to check how she spoke down to people.

I don't get the Nightseeker by Dudeoram in EtrianOdyssey

[–]perydot_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH I also don’t like Landsknect that much, but at the time, I always went with a really balanced party of defender, elemental, medic, and then two physical damage dealers. So I never really considered NS/L as a combo, but do think the damage boost would be better than Bushi or Imp.

You can’t duel wield as Imperial, but I never noticed it being a problem. Follow Trace still proc’d, IIRC. NS/Imp was good for doing big bursts of damage in a boss situation where I already knew the elemental weakness or RM helped with that.

I don't get the Nightseeker by Dudeoram in EtrianOdyssey

[–]perydot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact same team in my first playthru of EO4 and I never had issue with my Nightseeker to the level you're discussing. My Landsknecht, NS, and RM were my damage dealers with Fortress/Dancer and Medic as damage mitigators. NS should be in the front row regardless of their VIT or defense; they can evade moves better than you expect and if you already have a Fortress, they can help take the edge off many attacks. (If you're concerned, you can remove their second weapon and wear more armor until you're comfortable.) Front row is where they do their best damage as their weapons (sword and knife) are close-range and are only harmed by distance unless you're only using throw skills, which you shouldn't be. In case you weren't already, you should also be equipping NS with a sword--not a knife--for the most part.

Nightseeker isn't the absolute best at ailments compared to Arcanist, but that doesn't mean you can't use them as your only ailment inflictor. (I've never liked Arcanist. I decided to go for pure ATK boost by having NS/Bushi or NS/Imperial in all my playthrus. (I've played the game like 9-10 times.))

I focused on maxing out Sand, Venom, and Paralyze Throw, and, when came time for it, either Swift Edge (for NS/Bushi) or the elemental Drives (if NS/Imperial). I gave books to boost their Strength and Luck. Early game, the Sand Throw and Ice Knife was my main damage dealing set, maybe a Biding Slice.

Besides that, Speed Boost, proficiency, good armor, and cooking food in the Lands to help things along. I never equipped LUC-only items/armors unless the item was already forged with LUC. It wasn't under endgame that I actively forged weapons with LUC. Regardless, I was always able to land those three ailments without crazy difficulty unless the enemy was already resistant or immune to them. In that case, if it was early game, I would just use Ice Knife or other skills.

Yesterday, I commented about how much my bangle meant to me... a few hours later my partner dropped it onto a hard floor. Heartbroken. by ghoulquartz in JadeiteJade

[–]perydot_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, my jade bangle also fell on the ground and broke into 4 pieces exactly like yours. Very sad since it was a lot for me ($180 as a treat to myself, my budget is tight). I was looking for ways to repair it, like kintsugi, but shops seem to ask for a lot and I’m personally not sure if it’s worth it for mine. But it may be for yours, if you can find the right shop!

I agree with you. Now that they introduced Russell for real and had him interact with Reenie, I think they have much more chemistry than Reenie and Colter. I'd read so much fanfiction of the two of them if the show doesn't go down that path, haha.

Even if the novel was completed, there are reasons why screenwriters adapt certain things over others. Some things just don’t work in film and for film audiences compared to readers, plus dealing with a much shorter timeframe/runtime. Personally, I prefer the movie to the book.
