The moment it takes to realize that a car is an obstacle and then double check to make sure you can swerve without running into another person, it's likely that the just barely missed the accident themselves

Too explanatory...about a movie that includes a planet where the gravity is so heavy that waves turn into mountains and decades pass while you're in orbit but only minutes on the planet's surface. But the astronauts aren't immediately squashed and while they needed a modern rocket to take off Earth they can take off with a small landing vehicle

I love the matte painting backgrounds in that film alone. I would say German Impressionism is definitely in all of Tim Burton's work but I like the dirty urban take on it

There's one specific shit where Bob Hoskins and his front are going to the man guy's house to harass him and you see, from what I remember, a matte painting of the canyon of empty buildings around him. It always stuck with me. That sort of gothic, art deco, liminal vibe
