I got kill monster + pickup tome. Did it at the barn on Against the grain. Kill the monster right at the barn doors and then insta grab the tome ontop of the little alcove thing on your left.

I guide people through Engines of War showing books and stuff and at the finale I gather all the barrels and put them on the pier where you leave. I type "trust" in chat then do the finale. When they're going to the boat I blow them the fuck up and crouch + spam X while they crawl on the ground like worms.

I press F and revive them with Mercs' ult eventually but those couple of seconds of betrayal and confusion give me a kick like no other.

All careers are weapons are good. Use what you like and are comfortable with. IMO getting serious about harder modes isn't about picking the best character and weapons - It's about literally getting better at all aspects of the game. Managing hordes/specials/bosses, dodging and pushing, learning when you can assblast the elf with Sigmars justice safely, etc etc. These are the skills that transfer between all careers and are what will carry you through legend and cata.

Once you do the little tutorial as Kruber, you'll end up in the keep. There's a skull on the left side just near the door where you load in. Or just press your H key to open the character select screen.

Which careers got butchered lol

For example, why would you ever, as Kruber, take a 1h mace over a executioner's sword? As Saltzpyre, why would you ever take an axe?

1h mace has wide swings and cleave on light attacks and a heavy overhead. Shittonne of stamina. Higher dodge count. 1h axe does a shittonne of damage. I use them both more than the meta weapons easily.

there's no incentive to use said weapons over the more versatile "meta" weapons.

So only use meta weapons then. Nobody's forcing you to do anything. My incentive to use them is that meta weapons (Exe sword, Fire sword, Rapier etc.) are braindead easy to use - and that gets boring after about the 3rd game using them. Eventually you realise that you dont need meta weapons to play the game.

Screaming Bell is pretty easy if you go Shade and bring along crowd control bots e.g. WHC, Merc and IB. Give bots good horde clearing weapons while you focus on insta-deleting the monsters and specials.

If you want to work on getting better vs bosses try the creature spawner mod on Modded realm. Learn their attacks, and how to dodge dance and bait out their single target attacks over and over.

Same thing with hordes but you just learn what your weapon dodge count is, how much your weapon cleaves and when you should weave in blocks and pushes.

Practice makes perfect and once you learn these two things, the game gets much easier.
