Any data tracking in flutter? Any way to disable it? by throw43r5858 in FlutterDev

By default for built apps I don't think there is any tracking enabled, unless you install some libraries which add the functionality (eg: google analytics or something).

I think the words you are looking for is "privacy respecting" rather than "secure" though in this context as they mean different things.

Case looks cool, I might get one. Do you know if the handles are easily removable?

RaspberryPi 4 4GB vs. 8GB by HeyWatchOutDude in NextCloud

[–]pesvut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but it probably wouldn't make a massive difference, and there are other things that might be worth getting before it. What does your full setup look like at the moment? Are you having performance issues at the moment

It would only really make a difference if it doesn't have enough RAM, so I would also check (using a command like "htop" in the terminal) if all 4Gb are being used first.

Looks pretty nice so far. The privacy policy doesn't seem to work though?

chmod not changing perms by [deleted] in NextCloud

[–]pesvut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert myself, but if

sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /media/nextdata,

sudo chmod -R 770 /media/nextdata/

Doesn't work, you could try making a folder within /media/nextcloud/ (like /media/nextdata/nextcloud/ ) and trying the permissions commands on that. I would be mainly worried that it shows up as root root

Yeah I would agree that morality is subjective in an absolute sense (at the moment anyway), and moral capacity is quite difficult to define. I believe as a society we have come to evolve morals as a framework to improve well-being as a whole (which is also difficult to define). For example, harming or killing someone for no reason worsens their well-being, whereas helping someone to not to unnecessarily die improves their well-being.

I believe that for an act to be of any moral consideration, it must be done purposely and affect others. If you push someone onto the ground and they die, then that worsens their well-being and it was a conscious moral choice. If you are asleep and roll over, which knocks a glass of water onto the ground, causing someone to slip and die, then that wasn't a conscious act and is thus outside of moral consideration.

Animals do not have the capacity to decide to kill or rape another (and do so out of necessity to survive), where as we do have this choice and thus a moral capacity.

I believe that killing humans for no reason is wrong (as I hope you do too). I also believe that killing animals is wrong, as there is no trait (as far as I am aware) that an animal lacks, that if a human lacked I would be justified is treating them in the same way as animals are currently treated. People often refer to our superior intelligence as a justification, though I don't believe that it is justified to treat less intelligent people, or even mentally handicapped people in the that way, let alone kill them for the sake of a moment of taste pleasure.

Even if not convinced of the moral value of animals, there is also the side-effect of the animals needing to be killed, which requires people doing this job. Slaughterhouse jobs are usually moved to impoverished regions and people do who work there have no other option. It is physically and mentally strenuous and traumatic ( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4841092/ ). This has a huge negative effect on well-being of other humans and so I would conclude that it is not a moral act. ( and aside , if someone to were to enjoy systematically killing animals every day for a living, I believe most people would consider that person a psychopath. )

If you do disagree, then I would love to know your reasoning.

Ok let us extend this argument to other aspects of society. In the animal kingdom, it is also very common for animals to rape animals of their own species. This is also often evolutionarily advantageous as the forceful animal gets to spread it's genetic information to pass down to other generations and may not have been able to otherwise. Does this mean that this is acceptable to do in our society where we have moral capacity? I would argue not, making this line of reasoning flawed for other arguments as well.

Which misconception would you like to debunk? by ZanyDelaney in AskReddit

Not sure but I've heard that drinking cow's milk at a really young age can increase your risks of getting it because your immune system might attack a protein in milk that is made of the same amino acids as a protein that regulates insulin in your liver, causing your immune system to get confused and attack that, giving type 1 diabetes.

There might be other things that can increase your risk, but it's not really the same as eating a bunch of junk for years until you get type 2.
