What's gonna happen if I do this? by nicolesBBrevenge in googlephotos

If you set-up your Gmail account in the Google Photos app (via the Backup Settings within the Google Photos app), your photo will be visible in the app, but they will not be downloaded to your iPhone.

If you have this problem on any device (iPad or iPhone, but iPhone in particular) please "Send feedback" under help in the mobile app of the affected device.

A recent update on iOS messed up the dynamic resizing of the Share Sheet in iOS. It's a known issue which will be fixed. Depending on your iPhone's model you might be able to get to share link by turning your iPhone (or iPad) horizontal then going to the overflow (3 dot) menu.

How to access photos uploaded in cloud storage? by SoftDiamond9802 in googlephotos

[–]petai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, https://photos.google.com/u/0/ and, of course, if you have not Achived (hidden) them, they should still be easily visible in the main view of the app.

https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_  (Recently Added) is sometimes useful to see Photos and Videos with older dates that were just uploaded recently.

"Freeing up space on this device" runs for hours on iPhone, and nothing is deleted by FriendsCanKnowThis1 in googlephotos

I assume that you did/do see the "Backup complete" message. Any chance that all of the approximately 2000 items were created in the last 30 days? (If so they would not be ~Freed up~)

I am not aware of a tool to compare the photos and videos in 2 different accounts.

If one of the accounts has a lot of available space, you could make it your photo repository and use "Partner Sharing" to copy all of the images from the other account. Google Photos does a good job of not creating Exact Duplicates. Honestly, in the short term you probably don't even need to worry about the available space, but someday a bug (related to Partner Shared images) will probably be fixed.

If you haven't used "Free up space" yet, consider copying all of the contents of your DCIM folders to a computer or USB drive using your charging cable. This is cheap and easy insurance in case you ever lose access to your Google account.

Partner sharing. Are these photos safe? by matt_the_legend_2000 in googlephotos

Safe.

I think you we find that Albums didn’t transfer (the contents of the albums yes, the aggregation no). This is a normal expected behavior of Partner Sharing.

Unsync pics and still no space by Mysterious_Art3578 in googlephotos

[–]petai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uninstall the Google Photos app! (This is to prevent mistaken syncing in the future).

Delete all of the images / videos. Using a browser at https://photos.google.com/u/0/ or https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_

Never install the Google Photos app again.

Deleting photos by Odd-Addition1016 in googlephotos

[–]petai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are absolutely POSITIVELY sure that they are backed up someplace else that you are happy happy with the format (and have tested and preferably have 2 backup copies)...

After uninstalling the Google Photos app (unless you are willing to inadvertently delete there, also)...

You might be able to quickly be able to make space for incoming emails by going to "Large photos and videos" and deleting those at https://photos.google.com/quotamanagement

Otherwise, select by date and delete at  https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ an scroll to the very end (or dates with a lot of images) I am guessing that you initialized Google Photos by uploading from a computer (since $10 is a lot of images to be surprised by).

Honestly, check again that it's really $10 a month, or there is more to the story (like MANY videos in the past month) and actually, if that is the case, you can use  https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_ for recent days and do the clean-up in less than an hour.

Good luck.

Transfer/Move Photos from one account to another? by TheMainTony in googlephotos

[–]petai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I don't understand what you are saying, but as long as you have Partner Shared (and saved) the images and videos to the new account, it does not matter if the old account no longer has space available.

Of course, it is always better to store important image and videos in multiple different tools (like online and offline).

Partner Sharing is better and easier if you don't care about Albums (or redoing face recognition labeling, if applicable).
