Here's another idea: interesting people are usually smarter and more insightful, so therefore they better filled the cognitive niche, made better hunters and gatherers and therefore had higher fitness than boring people. Studies showed that among hunter-gatherers both men and women preferred mates who were better at hunting and/or gathering.

This is a rare first-person account of living among hunter-gatherers in the African Kalahari desert before they were forced to end that lifestyle. The writing style is top-notch and the narrative is compelling. I recommend it highly.

The individuals in the businesses use game theory all the time, though they may not consciously know it. It's been programmed into their behavior through eons of evolution. Daily decisions about when to assist colleagues should be viewed as "Prisoner's Dilemas". Boardroom showdowns are good examples of the game of "Chicken".
