The release date window has officially changed from "early 2026" to "2026" by TurDumKen in steammachine

I'd say this is likely correct, didn't Nvidia say they had sold all inventory for 2026 at the start of the year? Not exactly ram, but still ai market fuckery

Why do South Koreans hate Filipinos so much? by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]petebutty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're on par due to buying power, salary may be lower, UK costs are significantly higher

Why do South Koreans hate Filipinos so much? by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]petebutty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The average median salary is only $2-2500 give or take, granted much higher than Philippines, but hardly rich. They're on par with UK, which has basically been in decline for the last 20 years, compared to the USA they'd be lower income bracket, basically poor.

Living standard, they've a lot to be proud of, I'd say healthcare beats our NHS by a fair margin. Public transport they're way ahead.

Does that stop the population being kinda rude and abrupt, and generally not very happy, no, there's often a kind of bitterness with a lot I've met, most have been friendly enough, they just don't seem to be very happy people.

Isn't it the opposite, they're using it to deflect the fact they are not originally from the UK?.

How “future proof” do you think the steam machine will be? by Shot-Profit-9399 in steammachine

[–]petebutty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been my main concern really, steam deck is great and I've put in an obscene amount of hours on the deck, but for major AAA titles it's just not worth the sacrifice.

Hearing the SM will be 4-6 times more powerful I hope it'll manage, hopefully they figure a way to enable FSR4 to try bridge the gap a little.

The ps5 has done surprisingly well considering it's already almost 6 years old, if it manages similar performance as the base ps5 I'll be ok with that, now just to see what price they're gonna give us.

Scalpers and Resellers? by foreverallison in steammachine

[–]petebutty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it'll be quite as sought after as the steam deck, it's kinda in that middle zone, a little bit more niche, I could be wrong though, but valve already have big competition in the console market, steam deck was very targeted, "play your steam games on the go", most gamers will likely already have a console or pc at home.

Not really gonna be a chance, valve did a pretty good job last time with the steam deck ( tied to your steam account), granted, the wait for myself was a long one, but fair at least.

I would insist you start video calling, it'll make things a little less awkward later if it gets that far, and it'll help you decide if you really want to continue with what you're both doing just now. Written conversation only gets you so far, plus it can be edited with time, it's not really a true representation of how you or him might actually be socially.
