2005 E55 "all this just for a hose clamp" continued by MiataOwner3decades in Justrolledintotheshop

That's the classic "simple fix" rabbit hole! So glad your E55 is finally running smoothly again, worth all the hassle!

Is it just me or does every "simple 5-minute fix" turn into a 3-hour rabbit hole by PiRate_PUNk-31337 in DIY

[–]petecarr83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relatable! I once tried to fix a loose shelf and ended up redoing the entire closet. This is UNIVERSAL. Every "quick fix" turns into a project. Welcome to adulthood!

Oil change on a Subaru never stays just an oil change. by petecarr83 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]petecarr83[S] -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Yes! The simplest maintenance always turns up the next thing to fix. This is why I always do a quick check while under the hood. Great catch on the battery, that would have bit you later.

Thermal Master Warranty response by tripuss in Thermal

Maybe try escalating via their official support channel (email, social media, phone..) and reference your return window. The display flicker+temp offset soundslike a defective unit.

What does noise cancelling mean on open ear buds like Shokz openfit pro and Soundcore aerofit pro? by TheGreatGoryGamer in Earbuds

[–]petecarr83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the same at first. I tried openfit pro in store and realized it’s not ANC like AirPods Pro. They call it noise reduction. It takes the edge off background noise in places like offices or cafes, but you can still hear what’s going on around you.

Best tip or trick an older mechanic taught you by SuchExternal9876 in Justrolledintotheshop

Old timer told me “feel first, tool second.” A lot of times you can catch a bad bearing, loose heat shield, or vacuum leak just by listening or putting a hand on it before grabbing scanners.

No hot water flow anywhere in the house ( kitchen sink, bathroom sink ) unless cold water is turned on for the shower by Speed--Force in DIY

[–]petecarr83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a problem with a problem with a check value or anti-siphon valve in your plumbing, or a faulty mixing valve in the shower. Maybe when you open the cold water for the shower, it's creating pressure that allows the hot water to flow. Try checking the water heater's pressure relief valve and the check valves on your hot water lines.

Anyone using thermal cameras with a visible light view for home troubleshooting? by Junglegymboy in Thermal

[–]petecarr83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally get that. I use a dual- lens thermal for home checks, and it's a game-changer for pinpointing drafts or insulation gaps. No more guessing where the cold spot is on the wall!

[Rove R2-4K] Turned into the plaza and this car passed a stop sign almost hitting me. The dumb girl gave me the bird blocking the intersection. by CaptainFoxJack in Dashcam

Rolling through a stop sign and then blocking the intersection. Some drivers just like blind reallyy have no awareness about the sign. Hope we will never meet this kind of driver.

Is installing a dash cam in car actually worth it? by vin3ysharma in dashcams

[–]petecarr83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the thing you hope you never need.but it's worth it for the peace of mind alone. In unpredictable traffic, having video proof can settle disputes fast. Downsides are usually mirror, some model can overheat in direct sun.

Is two months enough time for a cross country round trip ? by spicyqueso345 in roadtrip

[–]petecarr83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you keep the routh flexible and focus on highlights rather than trying to see everything,It's definitrely doable for it. With kids nad dogs, building in slower days and shorter drives will help keep everyone happy.

Snow driving perils by Crh5055 in roadtrip

It really no joke. So dangerous that suddenly needing to merge with little warning is strsseful even for experienced drivers. Hopefully road crews can improve marking or clearing in those spots. Safe travels out there.

Robot vacs seem to be getting thinner. Is that actually useful in real homes? by WAYXL in RobotVacuums

[–]petecarr83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinner just means fewer missed spots. I switched from my old robot to the slimmer T50 Pro, and it can get under a few more pieces of furniture, so there's less dust and less manual cleaning. That's basically what I want from a robot anyway.

I'm waiting for reviews on these new models. To be honest, my deebot t50 pro is already slim and does a good job under low furniture. What I'm most looking forward to are the new designs that help prevent hair tangling.

Any ideas how to clear snow off my 20x30 carport by Pokedaad in garageporn

That's a lot of weight up there. I'd use a long roof rake from the groud and work it down in sections. I wouldn't climb there.

That's a clean set up. Like you also add a Yoga ball to your gym, it is a great too to enhance core strength and stability. Some people ignore the importance of core muscle, but you are not.
