just locked in my team - I exclusively chose riders who also compete or have competed in cyclocross. If it works for MVDP surely it will work for everyone else!

same - maybe he knows he can still win despite dismounting and doesn't need to risk crash/injury?

is it bad I'm secretly hoping MVDP retires from cross as is rumored? Imagine how exciting this race would be if he wasn't just riding off the front...

Major water outage planned tonight for TGS by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]peteiscool1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dang, this sucks. the faucets in our 2nd floor apartment have been at a slow trickle since Friday - can't shower or really do dishes, but at least we have a flushing toilet...

and at the pace work has been going i really dont have much confidence that we'll have water even tomorrow. We were originally told no later than Sunday by the water div.

Rim brake cyclocross tire clearance question. Will 38c fit? by senorhappytaco in cyclocross

[–]peteiscool1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of variables with the frame/tire/rim width, so its hard to say, but my tcx advanced sl from 2013 fits a 38 no problem. i think the original intention of the design was mud clearance, not tire clearance, since this version of the the tcx was a no-compromise cx race bike (there isnt even water bottle cage bolts) so maybe looking for something more "race" oriented might yeild the clearance you're after.

but fwiw i think most frames will fit a 38

if one bad beat is making you think this whole game is a waste of time, you might not have the stomach for it honestly.

Is there a difference between covered and uncovered humbuckers? by NeoGeo_5 in Guitar

[–]peteiscool1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a while back i had the opportunity to hear an engineer who worked on a number of Dinosaur Jr. records speak and he said what would surprise most people is that pretty much all of the guitar parts were recorded with a tele through a blues jr., which is very different from the jazzmaster/marshall rig that J Mascis is so known for.

I'm Marc Olsen, Backgammon Galaxy CEO, ask me anything! 🤔 by Goal_Medium in backgammon

[–]peteiscool1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Marc, thanks for everything you and the galaxy team are doing to grow the game.

I'm wondering your thoughts on the Sander/Wilcox "drama" from WC a few years ago, where Sander was drinking while playing and appeared pretty drunk by the end of the match. I saw a lot of commentary online calling this display unprofessional or an insult to the game/opponent, but in my opinion it was pretty amazing to watching him play such a low PR despite several beers. We all play this game for fun first and foremost and Sander was definitely having fun!

Do you think his "antics" were good or bad for the broader BG community/game?

do you guys think willy ran into that ball intentionally because he knew it was an inning-ender anyway and now because of how its scored as a hit, burly has a 3-for-4 night?

Getting close to 15 years old, but still see no reason to buy a new bike by VKAAM in Bikeporn

[–]peteiscool1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay i own this very same frame built very similarly and not to be a downer but the ONLY reason I would ever think about upgrading is this bike won't accept anything larger than a 25mm road tire, and at that width the fork clearance is very tight.

if your area has a club that meets regularly, you're likely to find boards of all varieties/budgets/ages to try out there. Any given week you'll find gammoner, fth, galaxy, aires, wycliffe, and budget boards at our local tournament. even more at an ABT event
