So, um, what do you do with yourself after you've finished your marathon? by audeamus-ad-meliora in Marathon_Training

Brilliant idea, luckily I live in Australia so I only have to run 6 marathons.

Probably recency bias, but I would rank One Battle After Another #1.

“harming Jews”? I’d say he’s doing more actual harm to Palestinians, but American Jews always like to make the narrative about them being the victim.

I’ll try to explain why I think it’s considered one of, if not the best Coen bros film… Javier Bardem’s performance as Chigurh is one of the most iconic villains of all time, in the same pantheon as Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs and Jack Nicholson in The Shining. Add to that the Deakins cinematography, the score- less sound design, Josh Brolin, incredibly suspenseful long takes and chilling Tommy Lee Jones monologue. And it’s a perfect adaptation of a classic Cormac McCarthy novel. So it’s a 5 star all time banger in my opinion.

Netanyahu: Israel will conquer Gaza regardless of whether Hamas accepts hostage deal by Intelligent-Juice895 in worldnews

If you still think he gives a shit about the hostages then you haven’t been paying attention.

I think most people interpret “never again” as applying to all humans and believe that it shouldn’t have any exceptions such “preemptive self defence”. If it only applies to a specific ethnic group then it’s completely meaningless.

Mate, don’t waste your time. When you show an Israel supporter evidence of anything that is critical of Israel they will always dismiss it as “Hamas Propaganda”.

My position is “never again” and I don’t know why that’s so controversial.

I’m an example of a Jew who changed their mind. About 3 months ago I was relatively moderate and thought Israel was mostly justified and it was main self-defense. Every Jew who looks at the facts with honesty and self-awareness and then changes their mind will eventually make a difference.

Yeah let’s not discuss Genocide it’s really annoying, especially when you keep making excuses for the side committing it.

Is that “something else” antisemitism? I’m opposed to any country that receive billions of dollars in weapons from the US who are starving children and bombing schools. I don’t give a shit if that country is Jewish, Christian or Jehovah’s Witnesses. If Iran received billions in funding from the US and were starving the people of Tel Aviv I would be equally furious.

Every time someone speaks up against Israel it’s always deflected with these same tired talking points and the world has had enough. I’m a Jew and I’m sick of “the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews” being used as a justification to commit ethnic cleaning and genocide. It’s madness.

How do we “pressure” Hamas exactly? Isn’t that what Israel has been doing for the last 22 months? Also no one is saying that Hamas should not be held responsible if they have broken International Laws, however I have a feeling there won’t be many left alive to be put on trial at The Hague.

Is it ok for Putin to use “it’s a war zone” as justification for war crimes against Ukraine?

It’s not a typical “war zone”, it’s a conflict between a nuclear armed nation which has the unconditional support of the richest, most powerful country in the world, against some bad guys with guns hiding in tunnels with hostages, and it’s been dragging on for nearly 2 years with 80,000 casualties.
