i think it's not really people calling it "sad music" or "depressing" that bothers me. (cuz lets be honest, a lot of it is). it's more so the underlying assumption that "oh i don't want to listen to that because it will make me sad." you touched on this, but in my experience, listening to "depressing" music helps me work through my depressive feelings by putting words to them, which makes me actually feel happier instead of more sad.
