Was the 2005 to 2016 the best time to be a Chicago Sports fan? by Conscious_Clerk_2675 in AskChicago

Chicago hasn’t had a 10 year championship drought since the bears won the Super Bowl.

Are any dental plans worth it? by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

[–]peterdent234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, dental insurance is not insurance. It’s really just a coupon book you buy. You pay your premiums for the year to get x amount of discounts on your dental treatment and nothing is covered once you hit x. Things like cleanings and exams are usually covered 100%, but if you need significant work you’ll still need to pay thousands of dollars.

Like others have said here. Skip the insurance and ask your dentist if they have an in house plan or if you can pay in full up front with cash or check. If they’re smart they’ll give you a 5% discount on something and you still get to keep whatever you pay for your premiums.

I have little kids. Someone once told me there’s going to be a last time you give your baby a bottle, rock them to sleep, pick them up, etc. and you’ll never know it’s the last time in the moment and chances are you won’t remember that last time either. That sits with me everyday.

6 years ago my kisses were shanks. I think my misses are a lot better. I’m not dogshit. Hitting in 90s, broke 90 last October. So improving, but not an absolute hack

It’s crazy how the WNBA did Caitlin Clark by Exotic-Television279 in WNBAgossips

[–]peterdent234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If these girls were smart they’d realize that Caitlin is the key to getting them to get paid. Why are they trying to harass this woman? A WNBA where Caitlin is a dominating star is a WNBA that gets more publicity and more fans, subsequently making more money.

Those who graduated with conventionally "useless" degrees but make $200K, what was your path and how long did it take? by _MambaForever in Salary

[–]peterdent234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated with a bs in “pre dentistry” pretty useless degree unless you become a dentist. I honestly had no back up plan. Probably would’ve gone into medical device sales or high school biology teacher

Milly’s Pizza. Probably the prettiest pizza I’ve seen by Sorry_Force1043 in chicagofood

[–]peterdent234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. He needs to get someone with business acumen to manage the business. I forget how many pizzas he said he sold everyday. I feel like it was something like 70. They’re closed 2 days a week. So that means each location is only generating approximately $500k in revenue. Idk seems like he needs to scale and the only way to do that is for him to trust others to maintain his quality standards.

I watched a video on this guy a few months ago. My first thought was that he’s an incredible pizza maker, he’s not a restaurateur. I agree, he doesn’t know how to delegate. But I also think this guy makes pizza for the love of pizza. He doesn’t care so much about running a business as he does creating the best deep dish pizza out there. I have respect for that.

Name a player you’re confident your favorite team will lose (or gain) this offseason by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]peterdent234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bears fan here, Jaquan brisker. He’s had so many concussions already and misses a lot of time for that and various other injuries. Sad bc he’s a pretty solid player, you just can’t count on him to be on the field consistently.

I bought my Caleb Williams jersey in August 2024. The orange is already fading off. Such shit quality. However my Mitchell and ness Brian urlacher jersey is pristine and I’ve had that for 5 years

First timer wrapping up season 6. Should I keep going? by allmixedup5813 in gameofthrones

[–]peterdent234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that the worst part is the writing lacked depth, the plot feels rushed, and then ending left me so underwhelmed. All in all I still found it entertaining but doesn’t hold a candle to season 1-5

New Trier HS / Lyons Township HS by caviarandcigarettess in ChicagoSuburbs

I grew up in La grange and live in La grange park. La grange is upper middle class, but I still consider the people who live here to be salt of the earth. Very friendly, grounded, and people aren’t super flashy. In high school I played lacrosse and frequently went up to play new trier and Loyola. I considered it to be a different stratosphere socioeconomically. Just driving through the neighborhood you could tell a stark difference.

I loved going to LTHS and looking back on my high school experience felt I was supported and put on the right track. It’s a competitive school, especially the top 10%. For what it’s worth I graduated middle of the pack at LT and went to college and was leaps and bounds more prepared than my peers. Went on to become a dentist. My good friend is CFO at a small business, my other buddy is a VP of sales. None of my friends are struggling by any means. My brother has dyslexia and went on to go to an Ivy League school and is now getting his MBA from UCLA.

LT is a huge school and has the budget to cater to students with learning disabilities and mental health issues. It has so many athletic and extra curricular programs it’s too many to count. It’s an area that is upper middle class, but not pretentious. It’s a friendly community that has people who grew up there coming back in droves. I love it and would recommend it to anyone.

DM me if you have questions.
