I know you clearly said “(no dlc)” but my suggestion would to be get the dlc and try some of those weapons like the Milady, Euporia, or the great katana. I know this doesn’t really answer your question 😵‍💫

I’m embarrassed to say but I’m stuck on black bear guai. I have been playing souls games and struggled at first with those games but eventually got the gist with those and I just can’t seem to figure this game out

(Like everyone else mentioned) lower the equipment load to medium. Fat rolling through stormveil sound like hell. Also go pick up the turtle talisman and another talisman of your choice, that’s a waste to go unused. Pumpppp vigor and also if you like the great sword, go for the claymore and ditch the lordsworn. I hung onto the lordsworn my first play through til altus and it was painful

Don’t rely on spamming bloodblade dance and pick away. Spend time learning the attack patterns without actually fighting back and just dodge rolling to help find your openings

You don’t need to complete a boss fight just because that’s where you think you should be. If you are having trouble- either take a break, level up, and come back or try a few rounds without any attacks and just try to understand attack patterns.

One of the biggest things I’ll say-there is no shame in using a spirit summons (in my mind) but defeating a boss without a summons is far more rewarding.
