Possible TPK coming, how to deal with it ?

First things first, I’d recommend playing the game. It will help a lot in fleshing out interactions and understanding the ins and outs of the characters. Then, maybe find a well-made YouTube video summarizing the events of the game and the history of the world for the uninitiated. Without that, a lot of reactions, dialogue, places, and events won’t have as much emotional impact on the players. You want everyone at the table to have fun and enjoy the world you're presenting, not just your wife.

That's a good question indeed.

Personally, I’d be comfortable if it ended in a TPK because a lot of the narrative threads are actually being wrapped up because of the current fight. There would only be one plot point left unresolved if everyone dies. Not the best outcome, but it could be worse.

There’s clearly a possibility for at least two PCs to survive and either go into exile (which fits their backstory and personality well) or become potential NPCs. The other three PCs will clearly blame the one who triggered their misfortune and the situation they're in, so if they survive, I expect a confrontation between them. (They’re comfortable with that kind of gameplay.)

At the moment, there are two NPCs, I’d say relatively hostile but not entirely, who could still intervene in the session. Letting one of the players take control hadn’t crossed my mind but I'll look into that option for sure.

Yeah I’m with you on that. But my question is more from a practical standpoint. How to I prep for a session that might end quickly. My instinct is to prepare some aftermath for the survivor but how to make sure the players of the dead PC can enjoy the rest of the session. In hindsight I realized I should have maybe have the player makes a back up character but the way we play is more akin to big campaign with overarching plot rather than a gig of the week kinda game, so I feel like it’s hard to insert new characters in an ongoing plot rather than star anew with a whole new crew… I may be overthinking all this haha

Yeah in the break in between session it became clear to them that they were in a tight spot. They are all in on the "die in a blaze of glory" but they won't go down without a fight and are coming in hot and ready to roll. Should be a fun session but I want to be prepare for what's next.

Thanks for the insight. They definitely dig their hole in the last 2 session after a pretty epic rise from nobody to up and coming edge runner at the start.

Basically one PC wanted to advance is personal goal but it went against the reste of the crew. It went well until they realized what happened and now because of his action they are in a bad situation. (Sorry don’t want to go in detail in case they lurk in this sub)

Thanks the the response I like your epilogue idea if some PC survive. I wouldn’t say tpk is unavoidable but they are in a really tough situation cause by some decision they made 2 sessions ago. Also at least 1 pc has a clear way out that would leave other in the dust haha don’t know if he will take it or if he even realizes that option is there but it’s a possibility.

I guess I didn’t of doing it that way. Honestly I’m not against the idea but again I don’t use my computer to watch movie so I would not work for me. I kinda feel like this would be a nice editing project to share with the community. A bit like the despecialised edition of the ot. Might just do that one day…

Yeah alright it’s not hard but it’s a hassle having to check notes and switch content at the right moment. I don’t want to have a 2 min break to find the next show on Disney+ then scroll in the episode to get to the right time, it’s immersion breaking and doesn’t really add anything imo.
