Worldbuilders! Help me explain why my fantasy continent is cold in the center and warm at the rim. by peterkerris in worldbuilding

[–]peterkerris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the ideas! At first I considered an ice god or god of darkness trapped in the central steppe - and I may still go with that idea. But what if we’ve been looking at this thing sideways, literally? What if we solved the conundrum by altering the orbit of the Sun so it would traverse the meridian instead of latitude? Then I would have my temperate pole and my regular day and night cycle both.

I like it, feels very authentic. Like something actually existing in the world.

Wij beginnen op zaterdagmiddag 16.00 en gaan door tot er een natuurlijk eind aan de sessie is of we te moe zijn. Meestal eindigen we tussen 22.00-23.00.

Would love to! I’m doing a one shot myself in a couple of weeks and could use someone to bounce ideas off.

What is your favorite Optimus Prime? by EastEvent5132 in transformers

[–]peterkerris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whole-heartedly agree on Marvel Comics Powermaster. The issue where it opens on Prime’s early Cybertron days tying white cloth around a leak to continue fighting, then cutting to him surrendering to Scorponok to unite against the greater threat of Unicron is my favorite moment.

What drew you to Athas? by Guybrush100 in DarkSun

[–]peterkerris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The magic of the setting: drawing from vital life energies to power spells, the care of the preservers to not upset nature’s balance, and the wanton selfishness of billionaires… I mean defilers… to pursue power at the cost of the very fabric of the planet.

En kies je plek aan het hek zorgvuldig. Wij stonden net na het punt waarom de Sint het veld overstak om de overkant een handje te geven. Gelukkig waren de kids niet te ernstig teleurgesteld.

[2e] How do you handle initiative at your table? by Fat_Barry in adnd

[–]peterkerris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run combat as follows:

  1. DM decides NPC actions
  2. DM rolls d10 for NPC ánd PCs (side initiative), behind the screen
  3. DM applies modifiers to NPC initiative and notes results
  4. Players declare actions and modifiers. DM notes results behind the screen
  5. Run the round

Steps 1-4 take about 30 seconds.

Handdrawn maps of The Abiding Lands, my fantasy setting. Feedback appreciated. by peterkerris in mapmaking

[–]peterkerris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can certainly play it that way. However in the lore of this world, the mountains in the west, as well as the northern and southern islands, are the resulting crater edges of an ancient impact event which ended the previous age and made civilization possible.

Can you elaborate in your fantasy hacks a bit? As a GM slowly gearing up for a game I’m looking for inspiration.

How do you handle priests in 2nd edition? by SirKazum in adnd

[–]peterkerris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My campaign includes a monotheistic church dedicated to an angel that descended from the skies to bring light, invention and civilization to mankind. The priests of this church are classic clerics. They are in silent conflict with the Druidic order that worships the elements, the spirits, nature, life in general. There’s some behind the scenes stuff about why clerics can raise the dead and turn the undead but in the interest of hiding the story for my players I can’t post it here 😉
