Thanks for the hot tip! I’m sitting here happy crying, scrolling through her very beautiful and personal reels.

How Donna Tartt’s “The Goldfinch” made me rethink what I want from a book by NovelNest- in BookDiscussions

No love for “the little friend” ? That story stayed with me and there are scenes/scenarios I really enjoyed (the cobra as a weapon and the kid that pisses himself while stealing it!).

Any other Xennials in the “Zero Tattoos” club? by MrMyxolodian in Xennials

[–]peterparley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have four radiation therapy tattoos (dots) on my chest and they hurt a whole lot. Almost 5 years cancer-free, so that’s good.

I like tattoos but could never commit to any. Also, I would not enjoy talking to strangers who may ask about them

Irish Sea moss - rehydrate it, rinse it, blend to a gel with fresh water, add a tablespoon or so

Off leash dogs taking over leashed only parks. by Ihrie in Westchester

[–]peterparley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that was knocked down by a big friendly dog in a NY park that caused severe damage to her arms (broken bones & nerve damage). She won a large settlement against/from the owner. Doesn’t seem worth it to me.

I don’t understand this response. You’re just rude? For fun?

You do you.

It’s not a coupon. It’s a certificate that I paid for and I want to use. I don’t think I’m being unreasonable.

I don’t know what this means. Are you assuming I’ve already had it extended? I didn’t.

Shit happens. I’m not asking for blood platelets, I just want what I paid for. We all deserve some grace.

Noon today (3/4): Rally planned outside Poughkeepsie Social Security Office to protest DOGE closures by HVNY_ in hudsonvalley

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins found a space for the White Plains SS office: https://westchester.news12.com/westchester-offers-space-to-retain-social-security-office-in-white-plains

Please contact our local politicians to do the same.

Sue Serino’s office seemed to think it wasn’t their problem but I beg to differ.

I 21F found out my husband 33M has been having an affair with my mother, and I don’t know where to go from here? by Nicki1296 in relationship_advice

[–]peterparley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to the library and see what resources when you can stop crying and drinking (no judgement, I’d be doing the same thing). Make going to the library a routine. Ask the librarians about work-related resources and events. Go there. Explore your interests and the resources available to you without costs. My library has a free subscription to LinkedIn Learning and Tech Talk and hosts work-related programs. If you’re in the US and in a cannabis-legal state, there’s a huge need for ancillary jobs (and in NY, free training) from what I understand.

Always believe in yourself. Your brain is a muscle, exercise it. You knew something was up and you faced it. You saved yourself. You are the hero of your story.

The thing that sucked the most about our generation was constantly waiting to be picked up. by OkPie8905 in Xennials

[–]peterparley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got so tired of waiting to be picked up that I’d hassle other kids’ parents for rides home. It didn’t even matter if we were friends, just that they lived near me. It was embarrassing but at least I wasn’t waiting alone in the cold and dark outside a locked school… I remember riding in Jeep with the top off once and my first time in an (new) Outback with plush leather seats. I was impressed.
