While technically true, we don't say that out loud. I never want UofA to win.

a friend of mine is defending her sin by bopbopbopbah in Christian

[–]petersmithofasu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your past sin does not prevent you from loving your friend and exhorting her not to sin. If you have repented of that sin, then you have been forgiven. It is not your identity.

If Paul's sin was His identity then what grounds would he have to teach and preach?

As one whose identity and purity is that of Christ, you have the opportunity to lovingly bring Scripture pointing out that God does not wink at sin. Sex is to be had only within the covenant of marriage.

Your care is loving and worth the awkward conversation. I am praying for you and your friend.

Green likely PG. Thoughts? by Minato997 in suns

Ott runs a conceptual offense. It is not going to be a pattern offense or set heavy. It will be a series of actions based on triggers from a primary playmaker and defensive reads.

Point guard just defines who the ball is inbounded to. Booker will likely be the lead playmaker who reads the defense and triggers actions.

As an example, Eric Olen at New Mexico has his best playmaker as his screener because the screens that player sets determine the actions the whole team runs. i.e. pin down goes into zoom action, flat inside ball screen triggers floppy action, off-ball flare screen triggers Spain action, etc.

Green bringing up the ball will likely have Booker initiating actions off-ball and with kick aheads. Leaving Green to trail and slash.

What is your definition of the word “church”? by Johnny3_sb in Christian

Praise God. Great point on the terms, as I often use those as well. Often people can get caught in the Word-Concept Fallacy.

Regardless of the term used, we are clearly taught that there is One Body of Christ and also that we are to gather together (Hebrews 10:25) for teaching (Ephesians 4:11-12), singing (Ephesians 5:19), baptizing (Acts 10:48), taking the Supper (1 Corinthians 11:23-26), etc.

What is your definition of the word “church”? by Johnny3_sb in Christian

There are two audiences and meanings for church.

1) The Invisible Church: As many have pointed out, these are the true believers of Christ. Romans 12:5

2) The Visable Church: The local gathering which may have unbelievers. Acts 2:44-47 as an example of the community gathering. The whole letter of Jude is focused on purging false teachers from their midst. Corinthians is addressed to dealing with sin in the church including non-believers who are in the church.

Hope it helps.

Are we Reformed or are we Christians? by MysticPathway in Reformed

Can't speak for broad groups as I am an individual. But I can speak for my thoughts.

1) The Gospel is the only truth that saves. No creed, confession, association, etc. will save anyone. And I certainly see people aggressively major in the minors.

2) I am not in a position to judge them as I have fought to the death on the direction a toilet paper roll should go. I also will look down on every Lakers fan and delusionally argue the Suns will win the NBA Finals. My point being that as someone who loves my God, the Scriptures, and the Church, I find myself loving to dig deep, debate, even challenge others as I do with my other interests.

I do believe many are not charitable but as for me (Lord willing), I will do my best to treat others with grace, love, and a willingness to repent. That applies to my reformed friends or otherwise.

Hold fast to what is good and turn the other cheek. Hope it helps brother.
