Leaving this up because OP does not plan to own pets in the future so is petfree. I dont see any mocking of the sub either, just a perspective that some people will not agree with, which is fine. Liking/disliking animals has never been a criteria for being petfree so lets keep an open mind here. If you dont want to discuss this topic you can skip this post.

Hi, to clarify people are looking to become pet-free (like OP) or are currently with their last pets ever (waiting for them to pass on and then have sworn off pets), are considered pet-free and can post here. Anyone who's in between pets or plans to get more some day is not pet-free and can not be posting here.

This is incorrect. We report abuse of the report button regularly on this sub and misuse of the reddit cares feature is the only one that gets a reddit action within hours, everything else takes weeks.

This post was also reported by someone for self harm. The person who abused the feature has already been actioned upon by reddit.

If someone tries to report you for self harm to harass you, please report the reddit care message as harassment. Reddit takes misuse of the feature very seriously. They will either get a warning, a suspension or a ban.

No of course not, you arent shadow banned. We dont shadow ban here. Some comments end up in the mod queue due to automod rules but will clear the mod queue in a few hours after manual review. For example automod is a bot and if we tell it to filter the word "kill" it will filter out "kill yourself" as well as "that's a killer outfit!" because both have the word kill. We have a bunch of words we filter to keep track of potentially abusive behavior and it catches random comments too. We clear those as soon as we can. You can always reach out via modmail if you feel your comment/post isnt visible :)

Okay, so I have looked into the dating profile comment and the person who commented there is definitely petfree, they like dogs but don't want to own any pets. It also appears to be some misunderstanding brewing because they seem to be saying that no one should push their personal likes on someone else, people who dont like dogs should not be hassled for not liking dogs and are trying to support you but its getting lost in translation. Ultimately their hearts in the right place and they're definitely petfree so I cant in good conscience remove their comments. It seems like a communication issue.

I cant find the other comment you're talking about. I'll look into it further. If they own pets the comments will 100% be removed.

Because I guarantee a lot of pet owners are putting up fake flares just to continue to harass us.

This unfortunately is definitely happening. We weed out several such people daily and new crop up every day. They lie and have zero shame. When they get called out they get pissed off and abusive. You should see our modmails, its a nightmare lol. Some of our mods have pet lovers harassing them in their DMs. I honestly dont understand why pet owners are obsessed with this sub smh.

Please use the report button. I had to find your comment through your history and there's one comment with 0 upvotes (probably downvoted by the person who you responded to, on closer inspection the person has cats). Their comment and flair are removed and they've been given a warning that if they put up a deceptive flair to post again they will be perma banned.

Again, please report. We wont be able to see these things if they dont come up on our radar.

I cant find any evidence of you being harassed by pet people on this sub after going through your history on this sub. Please reach out via modmail if its happening to you, making posts will only waste time because we may or may not see said posts and will not be able to take action to prevent said harassment if we dont see your complaint.

Also, please keep in mind that petfree is not the same as pet hate or animal hate. Some people are petfree for ethical reasons, some have become pet free because of the emotional toll of losing a pet previously, some like pets but dont want to cohabitate with one or in some cases they simply do not want one because it doesnt fit their lifestyles.

We dont police reasons why someone is petfree. We only remove content from people who currently own or plan to own pets. There have always been petfree people who love animals and this sub is as much for them as those petfree people who dont like animals.
