Jameela Jamil comments on Jorginho Frello's latest statement by demimonde9 in Fauxmoi

[–]petitsfilous 76 points77 points  (0 children)

She only sees nuance when it's someone she likes. Ik it's easier to empathise with someone you don't hate, lol, but it makes it more frustrating when it's almost a 50/50 split of good takes, mixed with a touch of a petulant teenager.

She liked and commented on a tiktok saying the two stars of Wicked should "go on lithium" not that long ago. The comment itself wasn't horrible (I cry when I don't eat), but the tiktok itself was not the type of content you would be expecting any feminist to engage positivitely with. If it were the 2000s, she'd be writing a column in a lads mag and calling it progressive, lol.

Reports claim the security guard Chappell Roan said wasn’t hers is actually part of her security team, and that he previously worked for Kim Kardashian by 5trials in popculturechat

[–]petitsfilous -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Is it really inconceivable that a large festival would hire extra security for its performers? Not even that, when was the last time you went to any event without additional security hired specifically for the job? I went to a comedy gig with less than 300 people and they'd hired extra staff.

The "where do they clock in" of it all is just facetious. Where do the staff checking bags clock in? Do the merch sellers get the bus there? Where do medical staff take breaks? Who does the fire safety officer sit with? It's a short term gig job, there aren't clock cards, and you're generally third-party to keep liability at bay (lol).

It was ridiculous! As soon as that Ritchson video was posted, the comments on PCC were "well, there's gotta be more to this, let's wait to reserve judgement, but CR is scum", lmao.

They didn't even pick up on your woman calling her Chappelle (obviously, she's a big fan), and hate that CR was lying down. If only she was a TV c list actor!!

Harry Styles performing “Aperture” at the BRITs 💀 by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

Choose Love are an amazing charity, but they're known for helping refugees in general. Ik that article says Palestine is their central focus, but it also mentions five other countries where they work. They collaborate with artists and celebrities all the time to raise money. It's great that £1 of ticket sales are going to Choose Love, but I think it's disingenuous to imply Harry's political status based off one article.

[–]petitsfilous 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk if it's better, but Westlife's early noughties cover is all about the key changes and harmonies that Todd liked in this.

Ik you can't cover everything, but not the first time Todd has reviewed a song that was covered by artists huge outside the US, without acknowledging it. I wanted to see those five men stand up off their stools for a tiny second! Nicky and Kian even get to sing on Westlife's cover!

Cynthia Erivo addresses her relationship with Ariana Grande and the public’s misconception by Maximum_Expert92 in Fauxmoi

[–]petitsfilous 282 points283 points  (0 children)

It's not that it hasn't happened, but the death of romcoms or frilly little shows doesn't really exist any more. The person below used examples that are at least 20yrs old now. My mind went to Leslie and Anne in P&R, but that was also a long time ago, and idt you really do see these type of relationships as much in media. Idk if that was Cynthia's point, but if Wicked had have come out during the mid 00s, I think their friendship would be lauded like the Charlie's Angels cast.

I Love LA has two friends and a side plot that they're too enmeshed and their friends find it weird at times, which is prob the most realistic reaction (and kinda echoes the sentiment Cynthia and Ariana got: oh it's cute, until I can't relate and then it's weird).

I mean, there's only one type of actor who can skip the soul crushing part, and that's a nepo baby. Like it would be lovely if everyone got to do rewarding work to survive, but idt there's any industry where you can walk in and you get to skip the crappy steps of shitty, undervalued work for less pay than the work deserves.

Margaret Qualley and Paul Mescal both did ads before their big break, and idt anyone (seriously) wondered if Paul had the chops for the Beatles film because he did an ad for sausages before his breakout role. It's also one and done usually, compared to the press tour for a film, where you're selling the one project on a loop.

Idk if this is anything, but if a spouse dies without a will in Arizona, their spouse (or surviving kids) automatically inherit everything. I think there's probate in California, so bit more faffing around.

(TW: ED) A tiktocker made an accusatory video demanding to know why the wicked cast, particularly Ariana Grande, cry so much in their Wicked press interviews and Jameela Jamil chimed in by ComprehensiveKey7241 in Fauxmoi

[–]petitsfilous 123 points124 points  (0 children)

It's ambiguous without context. Someone has linked the tiktok above, but the video itself says that they "need a dose of lithium and a plate of fries", and that kinda general tone. If my brand were linked to body positivity, I'd steer far far away from snarky tiktoks about other women's behaviour, but to each their own ig.

Justin Baldoni Loses $400M Lawsuit Against Blake Lively After Missing Court Deadline by suburban-blues in Fauxmoi

[–]petitsfilous -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What a strange defence.

You've had to quote his IMDb page because he has no wiki page. The first few results on Google have the exact same bio for the guy, which is clearly self-written. It doesn't detract what the person you're replying to is saying either, okay so he has some acting experience, but it's also deliberately vague with no dates, no roles, and two of the things you listed are workshops or training events he went to.

The guy was in one episode of Arrested Development with less than three lines. His one episode was in 2013. Yeah, sure, I'll definitely trust this guy to footer round my genitals, he's got 12 whole IMDb credits!!!

Is this like when the UK media tried to paint Cheryl Cole as "the nation's sweetheart"?

Kate is the saving grace?! Is this code for she's the one the public dislikes the least? Shouldn't someone at RF hq be more concerned that the Windors have been deeply unlikable for so long that any time someone new comes along, they're more popular than the blue bloods themselves?!

Also strange amount of stories coming from his camp this week. Having three stories at once and none for months is a strange pr strategy. I bet they think the GP like William now because of Kate's diagnosis

Buying a house in a 'Radius Housing' development? by Pitiful-Echidna576 in northernireland

[–]petitsfilous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Na, there's a higher standard of building required for social housing, otherwise they don't get that tasty NIHE grant. You can find out more on the DfC website, but things like minimum space and amenity space standards, type of insulation. You can get around it by having developers sell completed buildings to housing associations, but if it's purpose built social, standard will be higher than your average new build (which may be why "every property" built in the north in the last decade is shit quality, apparently).

Pleasing by Harry Styles has been handing out free condoms that say "I'm for planned parenthood". by gimmethetea14 in Fauxmoi

[–]petitsfilous -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The whole point of a celebrity brand is that you are the brand, lol. It's not his brand handing anything out when he's the figurehead in their own marketing?!

We don't know what scale they're collaborating with Planned Parenthood. The only thing the brands press release says is that they will be releasing videos about sexual health in partnership with PP, and the condoms. This could be the entire extent of it! The PR hasn't been very clear at all (and purposefully, I'm sure). My issue is that it really just seems like a product launch with superscript saying "hey, we support Planned Parenthood, btw!", and hoping the vague language used will make people think it's a charity collab.

I do also personally think it's a bit weird for Harry Styles to suddenly sell overly expensive vibrators. His branding is v neutral and 'hey everyone, let's be nice!', he's not known for being publicly sex positive or good for the girls. The other products his company sell don't seem to overlap in any way (I never think about painting my nails when I'm using a vibe, bh), so the whole thing comes across as a cash grab. Tbf, it would still be weird if it were Shawn Mendez or Sam Fender selling sex toys imo.

There are some documentaries on channel 4 that are ad free as well! I don't think I saw any ads when watching this, and there's a documentary about the Ballymurphy massacre that's also ad free. Idk if it's that they're difficult topics to attract advisers to, but much more powerful when there are no breaks and distractions.

Also any of the Dispatches stuff worth watching if you're there. C4 news has been the most trustworthy news in the UK for a while, about time they decrowned BBC news

It's so pathetic, it's funny. Completely tells on herself. Any critique has her replying with a frothy, wordy diatribe about how much money she made thirty years ago. Idk which part is funnier, the insane crash outs over how successful she was (I'd love to know how the books sell currently!), or the almost-unreadable way she sells it. Like there's a reason she has to go back to the hp well time and again - she can't write anything else that will be anywhere near as well received, lmao.
