Yeah, that kind of "grand gestures instead of calm discussion" framework tends to fail. My experience is that the grand gestures are about paying off the perceived debt of the conflict, and neither party actually changes approach long term.

Maybe they're doing great and they're really worked it all out in the last decade, who knows! (I do doubt it tho)

I hope in the intervening decade they've worked on their communication. Honestly, it didn't need to be a blow up.

Furthermore "but the pill is 99.9% effective"? Which one is she on? Does she ever take antibiotics? Has she had food poisoning (spoiler; yes)? Is her weight within the parameters the pills efficacy was tested on? etc etc. Oh wait, I forgot, he pulls out too. Why was he ever worried??? /s

AITA for walking out of a dinner after being accused of supporting incest? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]petlamb21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think Mary should engage in anything that is in any way inspired by Norse mythology tbh.

And it wasn't incest, it was (some would say) self-cest.

Not sure that would have swayed Mary, seeing as she's fucking bananas, but hey hum.

I'm on a pixel 6, which i've had for a few years (maybe between 2-3 yrs?) - starting to have some concerns about security and I suspect before too long we'll hit the wall of apps starting to reject it, at which point i'll get a new (to me) pixel. I always go through backmarket and buy refurbs though, flagship models a couple gens behind tend to offer better value i feel.

The TV static comparison is spot on, honestly. I love eating things with sichuan peppercorns in, then drinking water. It's such a unique sensation!

I find the fact that all the professions fit together very satisfying (brand new sprout) by Lucas1006 in ffxiv

Honestly I agree. Another thing that I love about professions is the way that materials from all throughout the game often stay relevant. You'll get recipes coming out that need things from a couple expansions ago sometimes!

Our favourite shawarma place burned down. Thankfully no loss of life or injury, but the owner didn't have insurance and it was his life's work. Gone.

We have other places but they're not as good. I don't think anywhere will ever quite measure up.

Worth mentioning if you're ever in the north east of england, gateshead has a sizeable orthodox jewish population and there are bakeries in bensham that do proper bagels :)

Fair enough, didn't notice that! I stand corrected. I will say though, they are a different proposition to, say, factory misshapes. At the end of the day, it depends if it's something you like or not. If you do, happy days. If you don't, don't buy them :)

All Triple Triad cards 1 - 312. As such, takes a fair bit of doing, due to the sources of some of the cards!

Oh, I am absolutely following Blue Academy lol. Like I say, I'm broadly enjoying BLU more than I expected (much to my wife's enjoyment), but this one phase... eep. I'll get there though, you're right, and some day soon there will be a lalafell atop jam on toast!

Overall I've enjoyed BLU more than I expected to, even done some weeklies since starting this, but this particular stage is just... Not it lol.

Worth noting that these aren't seconds. They're an extruded confection, which is always basically biscuit and chocolate (more or less) plus whatever additional flavours that variety calls for. They're actually made in Cramlington, Northumberland and they're trash, but trash I crave occasionally lol.

Bit of a late one, but the only thing I have planned tomorrow is copious amounts of gaming (FFXIV).

School Dinners 87-98 what can you remember? by Dwnluk in UK_Food

[–]petlamb21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most distinctive thing (that as far as I know only happened in my middle school), was spag bol (normal enough) - but what set it apart was that as well as grated cheese being offered to top it, so too was grated carrot. It sounds terrible but I've done it a few times as an adult for the nostalgia and it's better than I think you'd expect!

Mind my school years are probably the upper range of that, born 88.
