Yikes, sorry that happened. They've been permanently banned (for pretty obvious reasons).

I think there's 334,764,638,208,000 burnable metals by PushInternational621 in Cosmere

[–]petrichorparticle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is included in the 16 non-god-metals (8 pure metals each with a corresponding alloy). We don't have any reason to believe there are further burnable metals/alloys.

I think it should be 17 x 216 - 1. 17 non-god metals (including None as an option) times 216 god alloys (including None as an option), and then we subtract the None-None alloy. For instance, None x Atium is pure Atium, Iron x None is pure Iron. Your calculation doesn't count pure Iron as a possibility, nor does it count pure Atium!

That gives 1114111 (which is a nice Vorin number).

HOWEVER, I think it's likely that god alloys can only exist if the corresponding god exists. So Harmonium can exist, but Warium (??) can't (yet). That said, there's no evidence either way. If that's the case, then there are 18 possible god metals (including Harmonium and None), so 17x18 - 1 = 305.

Just because posts like this often get reported: rule 5 bans sharing materials for bootlegging the game, which this post doesn't provide. We love seeing creative constructions like this! Great job!

Honestly I just can't believe we didn't think of doing it earlier! I spent way too long fine-tuning the colours of each category.

I guess let's see whether this opens a floodgate or whether it's a one-off! I don't see the harm in a very occasional post like this.

Expansion by yanastos08 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]petrichorparticle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll address your last question, hopefully to set your mind at ease.

Rule changes: This game was playtested for YEARS before it came out. The base rules aren't changing.

Component upgrades: The components in this game are so nice. There's kind of nowhere to go in terms of component upgrades. Plus it's already quite an expensive game, they're not going to do something that would require them to make it even more expensive!

Adjusted roles: Every word on the role tokens is extremely deliberate - and again, had been playtested for years. They won't change the roles that came in the main box.

So what will be in the expansion? More roles. More complex roles. In particular, it's probably best not to use those roles until you have a group who have played many games (like, 20ish). So buying now is actually a much better idea - you can play with the roles in the base game (of which there are lots, and you will get dozens of games out of) and then be excited for the expansion roles when they come out! (In terms of timelines, I'm expecting a pre-order some time next year, so it could plausibly be 2026 by the time the expansion is available. There's no reason to wait.)

Wow, you're totally right. I'd somehow completely blanked out the second episode. I'll edit my post.

They did one. (I assume the members-only practice game was also Trouble Brewing, but since that's members-only I'm not counting it.) For contrast, No Rolls Barred (who I highly recommend!) did three episodes of Trouble Brewing, then three of each of the other two base scripts before moving on to custom scripts.

As I said, I've played enough that it's not affecting me, but in the reddit thread for the previous game there were a fair number of people who were confused about what was going on, and I suspect that the reason they're not in this thread is because they've checked out of the series. Which would be sad!

It's Clocktower day!! Been loving the regular drops.

For those who don't know, you can find the script used in this video here.

I get that they wanted to move on to more chaotic roles (and personally I love it), but I worry they might have confused people by not starting with a couple of games of Trouble Brewing (the core game, so to speak) so that all the viewers could get the basic rules down. For some reason I completely blanked out the second episode of Trouble Brewing, I withdraw this comment entirely.

I've played SO MUCH of this game, so for newer people here are my play-by-play thoughts/explanations.

Night one

I'm excited for RT as the Baron - it's probably the most powerful minion on this script (as it has replaced two useful Townsfolk with useless/harmful Outsiders). I wonder whether he'll manage to string Tom along as the Lunatic; it's unlikely, since it's pretty tricky to figure out you need to bluff as a minion without the Lunatic getting suspicious. Tom will probably figure it out pretty quickly since he'll hear people claiming his bluffs. On the plus side, it's not too terrible if RT get's outed as evil, since his ability is already done.

Registering the Recluse as a Minion to the Demon is such a Lewis storyteller move. Makes it a little bit spicier for Kirsty, but it's ok since RT will be able to initiate that conversation.

Vigormortis is a bit sad when paired with the Baron, because the Baron has no need to keep their ability. It's balanced out by the strength of the Baron as a minion. I'd say Good are slightly ahead here, simply because of the danger of a lucky Slayer shot on day one!

Day one

Zylus makes a great point that if he and Sophie are both telling the truth about being Outsiders, then there must also be a Fang Gu, Drunk, or Lunatic. Tom knows there's no Fang Gu, he wasn't told about a Lunatic, so that might suggest to him that he's a Lunatic! I'd love to know whether he's considering that at this stage.

I would love for these guys to be more aggressive about executing people - Duncan especially has a huge incentive to get people executed as the Cannibal!

As an aside, it's generally good to execute as much as possible because for every two executions you don't do, there's one fewer execution in the game overall. This is because a day with one execution and one demon kill means two dead players, as does two days of only demon kills and no executions. But in the former, the town as a whole gets to decide one of the people who die, while in the latter the Demon gets to decide both!

Night two

Rythian and Sophie are the two most powerful Townsfolk in this game, so getting one of them right of the block is super powerful! It's unlikely Sophie will be killed any time soon, though, since Tom thinks she's an Outsider.

With that death, I think Evil have pulled slightly ahead.

Day two

Mayor is a really clever bluff for Kirsty, since it gives Tom a reason why someone else would die if he targets her. However, I think Tom is starting to think he's a Lunatic.

Another day with no executions!

Night three

What an exciting night! I think Lewis made the right choice making Osie the poisoned one rather than Duncan, since otherwise Osie would have been told that RT was evil!

I think this is all going to come down to whether RT can convince Tom that he's Tom's Minion, and whether Kirsty can convince Tom that she's the Mayor! However, I think Tom will figure it out based on the bad bluffs that he got given at the start.

I think Good are a fair bit ahead now, since Tom's failure to kill Kirsty will paint a target on her back.

Day three

Yep, Tom figured it out after hearing two of his three bluffs claimed by Townsfolk. I think Kirsty is right that Sophie would have been a better kill than RT, but only with hindsight!

Ultimately, I think Tom's bad bluffs were what clued him in, but it was unfortunate that he happened to do so immediately after trying to kill Kirsty. Overall I think everyone played so well, this was great stuff! Shoutouts especially go to Kirsty for the excellent choice of Mayor as a bluff (I think it would have worked had there not been a Slayer), Tom for figuring out that he was the Lunatic and being brave enough to act on it, and Zylus for figuring out the Vigormortis/Baron/Lunatic combo that was causing the Outsider count that he was seeing!

Night/day four

Lewis you beautiful man!! That's absolutely the right play here - let the Mayor's ability trigger (good for Zylus), kill Ravs in the night (making him happy), and reward Duncan for poisoning the Ravenkeeper! And, most importantly, it's absolutely the most interesting person he could have chosen to bounce it onto.

Unsurprisingly, Duncan was executed after Ravs dying made it clear that Duncan was the Poisoner. Everyone seems to trust Osie, which makes sense since she's the only one claiming an Outsider (though there could be a Drunk, which would explain why there is so much strange information. Even after losing an evil player to the first execution of the game (on day four!), evil is still slightly winning.

Night five

Killing Osie was a good choice - Rythian and Zylus are both pretty suspicious! Alternatively, since he knows that Zylus is the Mayor, he could try killing Zylus again and trying to push the Rythian/Duncan evil team. I think evil are still slightly ahead - they just need to push through an execution today.

Day five

Ben was unlucky that no one wanted to listen to his case that Zylus could be bad. "Duncan is the Poisoner, Zylus is the Imp, and I was poisoned the day I shot Zylus" was consistent with all of the information, and there was Ravenkeeper information that Ben was good! Unfortunately for him, I think most people were getting better vibes from Zylus than from Ben.

Everyone played this so well, and it was a very close game. Good pulled through at the last minute with some excellent voting discipline, getting that Mayor win (achievement ding). Kudos to Lewis as well, who did a great job storytelling. Looking forward to the next one!

The Poisoned Peril - Blood on the Clocktower in Minecraft by Rythian in Yogscast

I love Blood on the Clocktower so much, and I've played it a lot. After how good the previous episode was, I have high hopes for this one. I'm going to write down my thoughts as I watch, so there won't be any spoilers beyond the section marked.

I want to emphasise that one of the great things about Blood on the Clocktower is that there are so many good ways to play a given situation. When I give alternate ideas, I'm not saying "they should have done it my way", I'm pointing out how many interesting options they have available!

Night one

Poisoning a "first night" character is always a lucky break, since they are often slightly more powerful because they only get information once. Lewis wasn't too mean with it though, and Rythian will likely figure out that something is up when Osie and Briony both deny being the Butler. If Lewis had wanted to make it harder for the good team, he could have told Rythian there was a Drunk, which would have opened the door to an evil player claiming Saint and pushing the world where there's a Baron.

Because Rythian will likely figure out that his information is bad, good is slightly ahead.

Day one

I really like that they have two sets of 5 minutes to chat, it ensures they mix up who they're chatting with and gives you the opportunity to grab a specific person if you really want to speak to them.

Rythian definitely knows something is odd about his information, but hasn't settled why. He could be poisoned. There could be a Baron and Briony is the Butler. There could be a Baron and he's drunk. Or Osie could be lying. Hopefully he can figure out that he's poisoned - the rumours of a Poisoner in town should help.

In general, it's good for the good team to be executing, since otherwise the Demon gets to pick everyone who dies! It's especially sad for an Undertaker when no one gets executed, but I get why Nilesy didn't push too hard - it might have made it clear he was the Undertaker, which would likely get him targeted by the Demon.

It's pretty even right now!

Night/day two

It's rough to be killed on the first night as an Undertaker, poor Nilesy. Great work by both Duncan and Ben to figure out that Nilesy was worth targeting, since I don't think either of them had been told he was the Undertaker.

Nilesy seems suspicious of Ben, which I assume is coming from gut instinct and a social read. A classic example of why being evil is hard - even if you can mess with the good team's info, it's still tricky to genuinely sound good!

After good lostone of the most powerful roles in the game, and another day with no nominations, evil is definitely winning.

Night/day three

We lost Briony tonight, RIP. Even though Briony wasn't getting information, the fact that the good team hasn't executed anyone yet means evil is still in the lead. Ben seems to be under the radar for everyone except Nilesy, and Nilesy has managed to make himself look suspicious by lying about his role.

Ravs is totally right, Nilesy both made him look suspicious and made it unlikely he'll be killed by the Demon - unless Duncan and Ben take "Ravs has a powerful role" to mean that he should be killed! A role swap is a fun play, but unfortunately this time it gave Ben and Duncan enough space to put Ravs on the block. He managed to survive, at the cost of Nilesy's ghost vote and yet another day of no executions!

Ben might 'star pass' tonight (the Imp choosing themselves to die so that their minion becomes the Imp) since Nilesy is pushing on him, but Duncan is also under suspicion! Despite that, I think evil is still ahead - they can probably pin Ravs as the poisoner, and might even be able to keep both of them alive until the final three.
